The You do not have access to view this node returns to Halibut Point State Park for its second show of the season – The Taming of the Shrew. This fun rendition of a Shakespeare classic will only be amplified by the unique environment of this seaside quarry in Rockport, Massachusetts.  Bring a chair, a picnic and some insect repellent for this late afternoon show. This is appropriate for the entire family.

The 5th annual Kite Flying Day is the type of event where you'll see hundreds of smiling faces from children aged 8 to 80. The kite festival includes food, prizes, kite making workshops, demonstrations, raffles and a full day of fun in the sun.

Kite Flying Day began as a way to get everyone in Hamilton and Wenham out enjoying the beautiful weather and has grown to become an annual summer tradition that attracts old, young and even professional kite fliers.

Join the Mainely Stars Planetarium and the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club for an evening of stargazing at Wenham Museum. Enjoy familiarizing yourself with the night sky in the Mainely Stars Planetarium, then view the actual night's sky with telescopes provided by members of the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club. While you're there, tour the Museum galleries featuring Blast Off! Sky-High and Sci-Fi Space Toys summer exhibition.

Joppa Flats Education Center invites families to join them for a full day of free outdoor and indoor nature activities, art projects, and live insects! August is the time to see such winged wonders as American ladies, swallowtails, monarchs, skippers, and more. At Joppa Flats, you'll see wild butterflies and captive caterpillars, learn about environmentally friendly products and practices for the home and garden, enjoy a guided nature walk on the grounds, and take home a fun craft or two.

Ipswich's Crane Beach Sand Sculpture Competition

The Crane Beach Sandblast is an annual family event where participation is encouraged but not required!  Build a sand sculpture or just come to view the fabulous creations sculpted from the sands of Crane's Beach.

Competition categories include: Kid, Teen, Family, Adult, Corporate/Organization, and Master Builder.

Prizes will be awarded to the best creations.

Central Massachusetts Spacemodeling Society will conduct a launch at Pingree Par

Go where few kids have gone before as you discover the thrill of building your own rocket with members of the Central Massachusetts Spacemodeling Society at the Museum from 10am-12pm. Then walk or drive to Pingree Park in Hamilton for the Launch starting at 1pm*. Members of the Society will also be launching some of their own rockets, so pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it at Pingree Park!

Join us as we paddle through the winding backwaters at IRWS with the family

Explore the Ipswich River at dusk. Bring your family and join us for an evening paddle in a canoe as we learn more about the river and some of its inhabitants. Being on the water is one of the best ways to explore and discover the wonders of wetlands. We will paddle through the winding backwaters lined with cattails and other marsh plants, looking for hidden wildlife. Using buckets and strainers, we'll stop and sample the rich aquatic life to learn more about what lives under the water.

 

Salem Heritage Days is a week long celebration of Salem's history and tradition.

Celebrate with neighbors, friends and visitors at the 50th Annual Salem Heritage Days Festival 2011.

Events are scheduled around Salem throughout the week, kicking off with the annual Salem Maritime Festival & Schooner Sails! and concluding with the Salem Heritage Days: Essex Street Fair, produced by the Salem Chamber of Commerce. The days in between are filled with food, fun, comedy and music for all ages.

Join us for a safari at IRWS as we search for frogs, turtles, snakes and toads!

Hike the Rockery safari style in search of snakes, turtles, frogs, and toads. Using paint and found objects, we will create and decorate a toad house for you to bring home and place in your garden.
