Tour Cape Pond Ice and chill with the coolest guys in town!

Chill with the coolest guys in town! Enjoy a cool visit to Cape Pond Ice Company, icing Gloucester's fleet since 1848. We were featured in Sebastian Junger's account of The Perfect Storm. Tours highlight the history of the ice industry, with vintage film of natural ice harvests. See first hand 300-pound block ice being made (up to 350 tons per day), fishing vessels taking on ice and ice sculptures being carved in our historic icehouse on Gloucester's working waterfront. Sail on the Schooner Fame

Take a sailing tour aboard Schooner Fame of Salem for Trails & Sails 2018!

In honor of our partners at Essex Heritage, a free sail on FAME, a full-scale replica of a famous privateer that sailed from Salem during the War of 1812 and captured 20 ships! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem. Special Instructions: This is a first-come, first-served event. We will hand out tickets to the first 32 people in line at 11:15 AM on Sunday. Your entire group must be present at 11:15 as we will only hand out one ticket per person. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Medicine in Colonial Salem - Pioneer Village

Learn about colonial medecine at Pioneer Village in Salem Massachusetts

Join us at the Witch House and Pioneer Village for a look at medicinal curiosities from the 17th century. At 1630: Pioneer Village, we will feature herbal remedies from English tradition and a few from the local indigenous tribe. The exhibit will be included in admission and free to Trails and Sails attendees. Pioneer Village is open Saturdays and Sundays only. Tour times are 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 each day.

Visit Lowell’s Boat Shop on thei Trails & Sails 2019! Founded in 1793, Lowell's Boat Shop is the oldest continuously operating wooden boat shop in the United States. Now a National Historic Landmark, Lowell's continues to build wooden boats in the traditional method. Located on the banks of the Merrimack River in Amesbury, Lowell's will be welcoming guests to learn more about its unique history and the craft of wooden boat building as it was practiced then and continues to be today.

In this much-anticipated program, Bethani Garland, a wildlife biologist and rehabilitator from On the Wing, will present audiences with five different raptors (birds of prey). You will observe the birds and learn their different calls, the best locations to sight hawks, falcons, and owls, and understand how different body shapes affect how raptors hunt their prey in the air.
