Friday Night Feast for Teens

Teens will learn how to make simple meals that taste great with Anna Tourkakis!

Teens are invited to a fun, hands-on cooking class with cookbook author Anna Tourkakis. Participants will prepare and then enjoy a delicious and healthy dinner featuring: Chicken Kabob in a Pocket, Yogurt and Cucumber Sauce, and Chocolate Dipped Fruit for dessert! Space is limited. Registration is required. Grades 6-12 welcome.

Kids are invited to play with LEGOs and experiment with paper airplanes at APL

Come and play at this drop in program! Experiment with paper airplane patterns and dig into a giant bin of Legos to build a 3-D creation! No registration required.

Have you ever walked through the woods looking for owls during the day? Owls are most active at night, of course, but if you know what to look for you can find their daytime roosts. Together we'll discover what our local owls look like, what they eat, and what they sound like. As a special activity, everyone will help to dissect an owl pellet.

Adventure Days: Carnivores Dining Out

Find out how carnivorous predators use instinct and skill to survive winter

Winter is a great time to look for predators and the evidence they leave behind. Today, we'll look at animal bones, fur, scat, tracks, and chews. Then we'll hike the sanctuary in search of hawks, foxes, fishers, river otters, and more. We'll investigate how these animals are able to hunt prey in the cold winter weather.

Learn to Fence - Free Class!

Enter the world of fencing with this FREE introductory class at Olympia Fencing!

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting at 4:00 PM, everyone is invited to grab a weapon, put a mask on and participate for FREE in one of our Learn to Fence introductory classes. Get En Garde and ready to fall in love with fencing at Olympia Fencing Club!

Walk on the Wild Side: Bald Eagles

Walks on the Wild side are an opportunity for adults and children to spend quality family time in the great outdoors finding, observing, and admiring local wildlife. Each program begins at Joppa Flats Education Center with a brief introduction to our theme via slide shows, group activities, or an in-class demonstration.  This session's theme will be all about Bald Eagles!

Let's Make Pysanky!

Eliza Goddell will be offering an Easter egg workshop at Emma Andrews Library

Eliza Goddell will be offering a Ukranian Easter  egg (aka Pysanky) workshop. You will learn how to make beautiful eggs using a stylus, beeswax, and dyes. The workshop will begin with a demo and a brief discussion of the symbols used in this ancient Ukrainian folk art. Beginners are welcome. No artistic talent is necessary! For ages 12 and up.

Microphotography Workshop at Maritime Gloucester

Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week workshop on microphotography - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What does a penny look like under a microscope?  What about grains of sand?  Take a closer look with microphotography!  Using our digital microscope lab, children will get to view and photograph various natural and manmade objects using video microscopes.
