The Wonderful Whale Workshop

The whalemobile is coming to the Newbury Town Library!

Have you ever wished you could touch a whale? From the inside? Internationally renowned Whale Specialist and Educator, Cynde McInnis, introduces us to her 43 foot inflatable Humpback Whale Nile, and teaches us all about the beloved marine mammal. Enrollment is limited! Please register with the library!

Meet Children's Author & Illustrator E.S. Redmond

Meet author and illustrator E.S. Redmond as she reads from 'The Unruly Queen'

The super talented and uber funny E.S. Redmond will be visiting The Newbury Town Library to read from her newest book, "The Unruly Queen." Ms. Redmond will also lead us in a craft and be available to sign copies of her books, which will be on sale at the library, courtesy of Jabberwocky Books. The event is FREE! Take a Walk on the Wild Side: Snowy Owls & Hawks

Kids ages 7-12 will learn about Winter raptors that live on the North Shore!

Walks on the Wild side are an opportunity for adults and children to spend quality family time in the great outdoors finding, observing, and admiring local wildlife. Each program begins at Joppa Flats Education Center with a brief introduction to our theme via slide shows, group activities, or an in-class demonstration.  This session's theme will be owls and other birds of prey that Winter over on the North Shore, including the elusive Snowy Owl!

The Bohemian Quartet at Rockport Music

The Bohemian Quartet will perform a FREE concert at Shalin Liu Center Rockport

Shalin Liu Performance Center invites you to a FREE concert at their Shalin Liu Center! The Bohemian Quartet was formed in 2005 by violinist and conductor Stan Renard with the idea of preserving the tradition, and indulging in the virtuosic playing style, of Romany, or “Gypsy” music, along with related Eastern European folk styles. Together they have made a commitment to the genre, and continuously aspire to perform it with both reverence and adventure. The group has a passion for the deep-rooted authenticity of the Romany tradition, as well as the ability to play this historic repertoire with extraordinary joie de vivre.

The Art of Nature: The Forested Landscape

Brenda Sloane leads this workshop at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary

Join watercolorist Brenda Sloane in a monthly program that combines nature and art. We will start with a walk on the sanctuary to observe the topic of the month. We will then return to the Nature Center to create a follow-up work of art. Sign up for one or more of these classes.

Curious George at CMNH

Kids will be able to meet Curious George at the Children's Museum of NH!

Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat will be visiting the Children's Museum of New Hampshire to greet young fans and help promote the love of reading via the Books Alive program.  At this Books Alive event, museum staff will be reading Curious George stories by Margret and Hans “H.A.” Rey throughout the day. The friendly costumed monkey character, accompanied by the Man with the Yellow Hat, will be popping in and out to greet children, exchange a hug or high-five, and pose for photos.

Entrepreneurship Workshop for Teen Girls

Teen girls will learn how to turn an idea into a business at this NPL Workshop!

Girls Incorporated of the Seacoast Area and the Newburyport Public Library invite teenage girls to the E3: Exploring Entrepreneurial Experiences workshop to learn about turning ideas into businesses where they become their own boss!  Attendees learn about entrepreneurship and how it can affect them economically, as well as professionally, at this hands-on workshop.

Orgami Birds with Laura Geggis

Paper Origami Cranes are probably the most common form of origami bird.

Winter is a great time to focus on birds. They are so visible with trees foliage removed, they are so in need of feeding, and they are going to be coming to the Manchester Library as live and paper birds this month! Please register. Our second bird program will focus on the art of Origami birds with Laura Geggis, a favorite of ours, coming back with her unique paper art instruction that works both audibly and visually for so many students.
