Family Poetry Festival at PEM

The Family Poetry Festival at PEM is a fun way for families to celebrate poetry!

Peabody Essex Museum invites families to join them in a celebration of Poetry and all things poetic! Words and artworks intermingle as PEM welcomes the fifth annual Massachusetts Poetry Festival. The event brings together poets and poetry lovers of all ages for a rich array of offerings including readings, interactive art, music and performances.

24th Annual Art in the Barn Exhibit and Sale

Art in the Barn is a fundraiser for the Essex Greenbelt Association Essex Mass

For one weekend every June, the barns at the Cox Reservation are transformed with color and form as paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor, monoprints, ceramics and pottery, and sculpture in wood and iron adorn the walls, window sills, tables, stairs and every nook and cranny of our rustic barns. Artists generously donate 50% of their sales to support the land conservation mission of Essex County Greenbelt Association.

Come to an Open House at the Kiwi Kids Studio in Marblehead.

Meet, greet and play with the instructors at Kiwi Kids Studio. Join us in welcoming our new music, child development and art teachers, and get to know other local toddlers and parents. Free play and other goodies add to the fun!

Art in the Shipyard!

Kids will create art at the Essex Shipbuilding Musem each Wednesday afternoon!

See, learn, find, create! Young artists are invited to enjoy drawing, painting, print making, and sculpture using the Museum's shipyard and artifacts for inspiration. All materials are provided for projects. All ages are welcome. Those seven and younger must be accompanied by an adult. A public exhibit of the art work produced will take place at the museum. This program is supported in part by the Essex Cultural Council, a local agency, through the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. For more information and to reserve a spot email or call.

Maritime Gloucester invites kids in pre-k through first grade to a vacation week session about seals and marine mammals - part of a week full of educational sessions during April vacation! What kinds of mammals live in the ocean?  How long can a whale hold its breath?  We'll learn all about marine mammals and how they live in their ocean habitats.

Draw Me a Story: Monsters with Ed & Rebecca Emberley

Beloved local author and illustrator Ed Emberley and his daughter Rebecca present a special exhibit of illustrations from their collection of frightfully-friendly Monster books. This award-winning author-illlustrator team uses brightly colored simple geometric shapes and thumbprints to teach young artists the basics of drawing. Young visitors will delight in the silly stories and playful images the Emberly's use to help demystify the imaginary world of monsters.

Maritime Gloucester invites kids in grades 2-5 to a vacation week session about Wind Turbines and Sail Power - part of a week full of educational sessions during April vacation! How do people use wind power?  Wind allowed seafaring explorers to cross oceans, helped Gloucester fishermen reach the fishing grounds, and even certain sea creatures use wind to sail across the water!
