Join Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk as she reads aloud 'Skippy Finds Adventure' aboard Schooner Adventure! This new children's book is about Skippy, a dog who found his home aboard the Adventure for 16 years.  Meet the creators of the book, and explore the vessel that Skippy called home!

Salty Dog Day

Salty Dog Day at Essex Shipbuilding Museum is all about pets, kids and families!

Come on down to the Essex Shipbuilding Museum and join us for Salty Dog Day where we celebrate the long history of dogs in the maritime trades with fun! This family event is a wonderful opportunity to wander around the Museum and have fun with your family and pets! Salty Dog Day features water rescue demonstrations, an agility course, a costume parade, vendors, hot dogs and more!

Fiesta Sunday hosts races, sports events, childrens' games and live music!

The St. Peter's Fiesta, Gloucester's annual salute to its fishermen, religious celebration, and five-day carnival and family fun fest is a  fun, safe tradition for families to enjoy.The festival is sponsored by the Italian-American fishing community of Gloucester, and has all kinds of family oriented activities and events that celebrate the Italian and fishing traditions of the oldest sea port in the United States!

Surreal and Absurd Weekend Festival

Explore the surreal and absurd at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem.

PEM hosts a weekend-long festival focused on surrealism and absurdity.Step into the surreal and experiment with Surrealist techniques, experience dreamlike films and make friends with odd creatures from Big Nazo. Through art activities, demonstrations, story times, guided exhibit tours, film and interactive demonstrations, participants will walk away with a better understanding of the surrealism and its effect onb our our society.

Lowell's Boat Shop Working Museum

Visit Lowell's Boat Shop as part of Essex Heritage Commsions Trails and Sails

Visit Lowell’s Boat Shop, the birthplace of the legendary fishing Dory as part of the TRAILS & SAILS two weekend event. Founded by Simeon Lowell in 1793, the boat shop designed and produced some of the finest small fishing vessels used by American mariners. The shop is a "working museum" where visitors can see boats under construction.

Exploring Land and Water Weekend Festival

At this Weekend Festival, the focus willk be on exploration and explorers!

PEM hosts a day-long festival focused on exploration, explorers and their tools. Through art activities, demonstrations, a live animal presentation, guided exhibit tours, film and interactive demonstrations, participants will walk away with a better understanding of the explorer's viewpoint and their impact on art, culture, science and society as a whole.
