Vintage Base Ball Championships

Come see how baseball used to be played (circa 1860s) at Spencer Pierce Farm

It’s Base Ball, 1861 style at Spencer Peirce Little Farm! Watch the teams of the new Essex Base Ball Association play for the Championship! The Newburyport Clamdiggers, Portsmouth Rockinghams, Lynn Live Oaks, and Lowell Base Ball Nine will play baseball using 1860s rules. These fun, historically accurate games feature underhand pitching and no gloves are allowed. A ball bounced once and caught is an out! Snacks, baseballs, and cards are available for purchase. Come and see for yourself how this game was played in the 1860's!

Join the Friends of the Lynn Woods on this Trails & Sails 2017 walk through to Dungeon Rock to Stone Tower. Lynn Woods Reservation is the second largest municipal park in the greater Boston area. This 2,200 acre forest reserve consists of ponds, wetlands, streams, deciduous & evergreen forest and rocky ledge. The ponds provide the drinking water for the residents of Lynn and surrounding communities. Wildlife abounds in the forest. More than an aquifer, wildlife preserve, wilderness experience, Lynn Woods is a unique adventure.

Come to an iron casting demonstration at Saugus Iron Works

U. S. National Park Rangers will be running hands-on activities about how cast iron was made at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site in the 17th century for Trails & Sails 2017. Come spend the day at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site. Carve your own mold on the day of the event - first come, first served. Hear the roar of the small furnace and feel the heat of the iron radiating from the ladle as molten iron flows once again into sand molds. It's not something you can see very often!
