Felts & Fibers: A Wool Festival at PEM

Peabody Celebrates wool and the things we make from it in a weekend festival!

Peabody Essex Museum celebrates the world of wool and the products that are created from this raw material in a weekend-long festival! There have been many uses for wool throughout history and across cultures dating back as far as 6000 B.C.E. Wool is made from the hair or fleece of certain animals such as sheep, goats, llamas - and even rabbits! Come explore where wool comes from as part of PEM's ongoing Art Materials and Creative Experience program.

Peabody Essex Museum has a fabulous line-up of fun activities, performances and films for kids and families celebrating the many different ways that people play around the world all week long! Make a marble, see the amazing things you can do with just a yo yo, play a game of giant Jenga, solve abstract magnetized puzzles and and explore the museum to find even more experiences that will keep minds engaged and hands busy during school break!

Big Bird and Elmo introduce kids to the stars at the Museum of Scinece Boston!

The Museum of Science hosts a special planetarium presentation geared to engage kids ages 6 and under in the world of Astronomy! Elmo and Big Bird team up to introduce young children to the start in Big Bird's Adventure: One World, One Sky at the Hayden Planetarium in Boston! Follow along with Big Bird, Elmo, and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, as they take you on a journey of discovery to learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Sun, and the Moon.

February Vacation Week Programs at MIT Museum

Kids will have a blast at the MIT Museum during February Vacation

Robotics, photography, a cardboard boat regatta, marine technology, holography, race cars and more are waiting for kids at MIT Museum during February Vacation week!  During the Massachusetts school vacation week, students and their families can enjoy hands-on engineering challenges and exciting demonstrations by MIT students, local companies and more. Drop in activities, workshops and demonstrations will be happening all week long and the will conclude with a special presentation on Saturday afternoon.

February Vacation at Hammond Castle

Hammond Castle will be open during February vacation 2013.

Hammond Castle will be open during most of February Vacation, so pack up the knights and maidens and voyage to this medieval castle for a vacation adventure that your kids are sure to remember! Weather permitting, visitors will enjoy exploring this eclectic collection of Roman, medieval, and Renaissance artifacts in a castle setting complete with a great hall, courtyard and secret passages! Guided tours are available daily, and a knighting ceremony will take place on Friday, February 22!
