Wrap It Up at PEM

Families will learn the art of making marbled paper at Peabody Essex Museum

Drop-in for our yearly holiday wrapping paper workshop.  This year we will be joined by Regina from the Boston Paper Collective as we learn Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of paper marbling.  Make your own Suminagshi paper and see some examples of Ebru (Turkish paper marbling) as show above.

Middle Street Walk 2012

The lighting of the Lobster Trap Tree is part of Middle Street Walk's finale.

The 17th annual Middle Street Walk is a great way to experience Gloucester's Historic District while having fun with the family. The Festivities begin at 9 am and go all the way though to the end of the Holiday Ball on Saturday evening! Pick up a Schedule of Events and get your walk on!  A whole day of FREE activities, shows and events await for all the members of the family.

Fantastic Wood Sculptures

Kids are encoruaged to experiment with woodworking and sculpture!

Wood, hammers and nails--add a little imagination and watch what happens!  The result is always fun! All ages welcome. Those under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. $7 per child or teen.  Drop-ins welcome. It always helps us set up if you can call or email if you are on your way!

 Join us at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum as Susie Talbot guides us through decorating a 20" wreath. Susie is an extraordinarily talented individual who not only designed, but takes care of our front gardens. Amongst her many talents is decorating Holiday greens.

Celebrate the beginning of Winter as Lynn Museum and Historical Society hosts Mid-Winter Magic with the award-winning puppet company, the Gerwick Puppets. This musical fantasy tells the story of two children’s wintry dream with over 30 puppets of all shapes and sizes! A truly elaborate show featuring music of Debussy & others!

Middle Street Harvest Festival

Middle Street Gloucester comes alive with music and fun for the Harvest Festival

There a lot going on this weekend on Middle Street in Gloucester!  Come to the Middle Street Harvest Festival for live music, museum tours, the Thanksgiving Cape Ann Farmers Market, a craft fair and chowder luncheon, story time and crafts for the kids, tours of the Gloucester Fire Station and more! A benefit concert will take place to raise funds for the Grace Center at Saint John's Episcopal Church.  The Middle Street Harvest Festival is sponsored by Bank Gloucester and other local businesses.

MFA: Korea Foundation Day, Arts of Korea Gallery & Buddhist Paintings Exhibition

Visit Massachusetts with Families. Fun events at the MFA Museum of Fine Art

In celebration of the opening of the new Arts of Korea Gallery and Korean Buddhist Paintings exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), the Museum is hosting Korea Foundation Day on Friday, November 16, from 3 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

Activities include tours of the Arts of Korea Gallery in Korean and English, a talk by artist Kang Ik-Joong, and musical performances by the percussion group Gong Myoung. These programs are free with Museum admission and children 17 and younger are free.

PizzaFest and Annual Auction 2012 at Children's Museum of NH

The Pizza Fest and Annual Auction has food and family fun at the NH Children's .

On Friday, November 16, pizza aficionados of all ages can cast their votes for best regional pizza restaurants at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire’s Fourth annual PizzaFest and Holiday Auction. The event will be held from 5-8 pm at the Children’s Museum of NH in Dover. Attendees will be able to sample different varieties of pizza from local purveyors, then vote for their favorites. All proceeds benefit the museum’s innovative education and outreach programs.

Peabody Essex Museum hosts a weekend festival full of fun events and activities geared to make you experience life of medieval Europe. Using performances, demonstrations and hands on activities, families will learn about medieval life and the people who lived during that time in Europe.
