Meet the Lorax at Children's Museum of NH

Come to the Children's Museum of NH to meet Dr. Seuss' Lorax!

The Lorax, star of the Dr. Seuss book by the same name, will be visiting the Children’s Museum to greet young fans and help promote the love of reading.At the Books Alive event, museum staff will be reading “The Lorax” by beloved author Dr. Seuss throughout the day. The friendly costumed character Lorax will be popping in and out to greet children, exchange a hug or high-five, and pose for photos. There will also be a variety of Seuss-inspired literacy, math and creative activities for children in the museum’s large classroom.

MFA: Columbus Day Open House

Visit Massachusetts with Families. Fun events at the MFA Museum of Fine Art

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), will welcome visitors to its annual Fall Open House on Monday, October 8, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

This year’s Open House marks the 11th anniversary of the Fenway Alliance’s Opening Our Doors. Activities will be in conjunction with the Celebrations Around the World theme. The Museum will present the Hispanic Heritage Month Short Film Festival, which highlights contemporary Spanish short films.

Visitors can also visit the new Michael C. Ruettgers Gallery for Ancient Coins, the first gallery dedicated to coins at a major US art museum.  Explore the five hundred ancient Greek and Roman coins from the Museum’s world-renowned collection on one of several iPads stationed throughout the gallery. 

Additionally, this family-friendly free day will include performances by the Boston Conservatory, the Anikai Dance Theater, DJ Berbere, as well as family art-making activities in the galleries and tours.

Celebrate the 'Hats' Exhibit at Peabody Essex Museum in Salem MA

Kids will build a LEGO vehicles and then test them on a track at the CMNH!

Take a FREE guided tour of "Ansel Adams, At the Water's Edge" at the Peabody Essex Museum . Ansel Adams' appreciation for water was never far from the surface. He was drawn to the subject in all its forms, from rain, fog, mist and clouds to ice and snow. He also photographed water's effects in tide pools, weathered buildings and erosion patterns.

'More Than a Number' Family Day

Family Day at the Lynn Museum offers family events and free museum admission!

Lynn Museum and Historical Society invites you to day of family activities and events!  Enjoy dance performances, art and crafts, cooking demos and story telling in addition to FREE museum admission! Visitors are encouraged to see latest exhibition 'More Than a Number: Stories from Lynn', that tells the story of Lynn community members who escaped Cambodia and the horror of Khmer Rouge regime. This exhibit will close at the end of Family Day, so see it while you can!
