Newburyport Yankee Homecoming

"Newburyport - A Hidden Jewel" is the theme for the 55th-annual Yankee Homecoming and the parade is certainly one of those jewels. This Traditional New England Parade is sure to please, and will host a variety of entertaining floats and marchers. Sunday, August 5th is the big day and this year's committee hopes to attract people from a variety of civic, youth, charitable and other specialty groups to participate in the parade, making it the best ever.

The 2012 YANKEE HOMECOMING FAMILY DAY at Maudslay State Park is slated to be better than ever with more activities for kids of all ages, more demonstrations on the main stage and a focus on having activities for family members ages 1-100! Widely recognized as the finest interpreters of Lennon & McCartney, Beatlejuice combines wonderful vocals, great musicianship, and true respect for their heroes.

The Yankee Homecoming Waterfront Concert Series invites you to hear some waterfront Big Band Music! COMPAQ BIG BAND is an experienced, professional, authentic 20-piece big band that has a wide range of big band classics at their fingertips. They’ve kept New England swingin’ since 1975, with a big band repertoire that begins with honoring the classics from the 30s and 40s as performed by the bands of Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and other greats.

For more than 50 years, the Yankee Homecoming Road Race has been inviting runners and athletes of all ages to run through the heart of Newburyport. Imagine a beautiful summer evening in the beautiful town of Newburyport, MA. Each year, hundreds of runners in both the 10M and 5K enjoy a breathtaking course through the bucolic seaside town, running along the ocean for several miles before winding through a state park and charming New England neighborhoods. The Yankee Homecoming 10M and 5K are truly picture perfect.

Showcasing the talents of kids of all ages. This is a non-competitive showcase of children’s talent in Newburyport and the surrounding area. Children in grades 1 - 12, ages 6 - 18 who are residents or students in the Newburyport Schools and the immediate surrounding areas will be allowed to participate.

Olde Fashioned Sunday in Downtown Newburyport is a full day of activities with a taste of by-gone days. Activities range from live musical performances to Antique car viewing to kids games and pony rides!

Come to the Second Annual High School Battle of the Bands. Local High School aged bands will compete to see who rises to the top! Watch local student bands battle it out on the stage, and help your favorite band by voting for them!

Market Square Day features a their 55th annual juried craft show spotlighting amazingly talented artisans.  Hand made items from some of New England's most gifted artists and crafters will be selected through the jurying process. Join us in Market Square as we continue this tradition.

The Yankee Homecoming Waterfront Concert Series is proud to present the Journey Tribute Band 'Faithfully' for a concert by the sea at Waterfront Park in Newburyport.
