Meet at Campground Nature Center- Learn about the local bird population from our park interpreter while enjoying some amateur bird watching. Bring binoculars if you have them. Pack up the gang for a day of exciting attractions and competitive and silly sporting events for the entire family. Our 3rd Annual Field Day and Scoop-Ah-Bowl will bring back our Red Sox Mobile unit, High Flying Dogs Frisbee show, World Class magician, plenty of food trucks, fantastic music and many more surprises. The younger kids will love our obstacle course and all the classic summertime favorites like dizzy bat, three legged and other fun races, watermelon eating contests, face painting, a balloon artist extraordinaire, and a wiffleball tourney for all skill levels!
It's family fun!!!!! The 2018 Sand Castle Sculpture Event is back this year as Mother Nature is cooperating with a suitable tide schedule at Devereux Beach. All are welcome to bring buckets, shovels and creativity to this cherished Festival family event, open to sand sculptors of all ages. Sign up early at the Festival's registration table at Devereux Beach - it's free - then dig in and create the design of your dreams. Judging and an Awards Ceremony will culminate the competition. The Festival extends its thanks to The Neck Run Cafe for providing delicious frozen treats for Sand Sculpture participants.
Kids are invited to the children's garden at the Peabody Institute Library - Danvers children's garden for a fun show featuring the Music Man - Brian Doser! Brian performs nothing but straight ahead music to get your child up and dancing. These classic songs were inspired by time honored tunes sung to him by his grandmother years ago. Be careful, parents may find themselves singing along and joining in the fun!
In every kind of weather, we love to head outdoors to our spectacular local habitats, so join us for one, two, or more of these nature explorations! Each one will focus on the importance of a sense of place as we explore the ecology, sights, and sounds of our natural landscape. Wildlife, local and migrating birds, collecting techniques, and environmental awareness will be presented in a fun, energetic format that adults and children alike will enjoy. This session will be trapping (and releasing) fish and other creatures that live in the marsh.
