Science and Art collide for the 2017 Marine Art Contest hosted by the Massachusetts Marine Educators and Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary! Kids in grades K-12 are invited to submit entries in this year's contest themed 'Marine Biodiversity of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary'. Spread the word to teachers, homeschoolers, other students, and parents about this wonderful opportunity to learn and teach others with art!
Among the many activities and events sponsored by The Marblehead Festival of Arts over the course of the year, the Festival is particularly proud to support our community by awarding a scholarship to a deserving student who resides or attends school in Marblehead. The Scholarship Committee is now accepting applications for the Art Scholarship Award.
Come to the Abbot Public Library May 9 – June 2 to step into Marblehead's own version of the Van Gogh's Starry Night. This inspired theme will be the backdrop for this year’s Marblehead High School's Annual Senior Art Show. The show will exhibit different media, from photographs to busts to paintings, all created by the students of the class of 2016. Many of the pieces have won awards in art competitions and are truly spectacular to look upon. The opening night reception will be on Monday, May 16, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Abbot's art gallery.
Maritime Gloucester has planned a fulfilling and fun week of programs for kids during April Vacation 2014. The programs are geared towards learning about life in the sea, and on it! Daily session are offered through the week, and offerings will be split by age - pre-K through 1st grade and grades 2-5. These sessions are part story, part presentation and part art or craft project. Kids will learn about sea life, sail and wind power, lobstering and more!

The Peabody Institute Library has recently opened their new Creativity Lab that includes an array of tools that can be used to make and fabricate all kinds of projects. From music to sewing to electronics, the Creativity Lab is a great place to come to collaborate with others, brainstorm, make and create! Come visit the lab and nurture your desire to make something better with your own ideas, or to create something completely unique!
Maritime Gloucester has a wonderful exhibit on display through Monday where you can have an underwater experinece while staying dry! Artist Camilla MacFayden organized and produced the Stock the Tank exhibit using printed material created by members of her collography workshop this Summer.
Maritime Gloucester as their own version of Shark Week! Come learn about sharks and their cousins all week long with fun activities and educational sessions! Draw a life shark in the chalkquarium, learn about plankton feeders and find out some of the strange facts about sharks that set this species apart from the rest of the creatures in the sea!
Wenham Museum is planning a LEGO exhibition in September and they want to show off your LEGO sculpture! Only 63 entires will be accepted and shown on a first come first serve basis, so act now and enter early to ensure yourself a spot. There's some incredible art being created with LEGO, so if you have the artistic ability to pull off a sculpture made entirely out of LEGO, share it with your community!
