Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week session about Ocean Food Webs - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! How do different types of fishing gear work? How is life in the ocean interconnected?  How is energy passed from one living thing to another?  From pinching claws to sleek fins, creatures have various structures that help them find food or avoid being eaten.

How do different types of fishing gear work?  How does fishing impact marine habitats?  In this interactive workshop, children will tour our gallery and invent their own fishing gear.

Kids pre-k through grade 5 will love the programs at Maritime Gloucester!

Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week session about Fossils and Prehistoric Sea Life - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What can fossils teach us about prehistoric sea life and ancient oceans?  What is paleontology?  Children will examine three prehistoric eras and discover prehistoric creatures such as spiny trilobites, whale-sized fishes, and ferocious marine reptiles.

Octopus and Squid Printing Lab at Maritime Gloucester

Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week Octopus and Squid Printing Lab - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! Did you know that some squid glow in the dark, cuttlefish communicate through color, and that a certain octopus can mimic a variety of sea creatures?  Children will investigate the cephalopods, a group of intelligent mollusks that includes the octopus, squid, nautilus, and cuttlefish.

 Cape Ann Museum hosts a family friendly concert based on Katy and the Big Snow!

The Beauport Chamber Players present a family-friendly concert event featuring Robert J. Bradshaw's "Katy and the Big Snow," based on Virginia Lee Burton's classic children's story. This program is FREE and open to the public. Generously sponsored by the Goldhirsh Foundation.

The Cape Ann Art Haven Buoy Auction is a chance to have fun and help Art Haven

Come to Cruiseport Gloucester to Cape Ann Art Haven 's biggest fundraiser of the year! See the beautiful artwork created by our students throughout 2012 and take home your favorite buoy from the 2012 lobster trap tree! Silent auction starts at 5:00, live auction at 6:00. Appetizers donated by local restaurants and proceeds from the event go to support Art Haven's after school programs.

Kids Learn to Ice Skate Registration

Learn to Skate, Cape Ann Skating Club Kids and Adults learn to skate in Hamilton

Get your young hockey or figure skater off to a great start and sign up today for the next learn to skate session with the Cape Ann Figure Skating Club. Adult classes are available too. Learn to skate lessons for all ages and abilities offered in Hamilton and Gloucester.

Several sessions are offered so that the skaters have an opportunity to progress through many skating levels while strengthening their skills. Upon completion of the LTS program, children may wish to continue in the Basic Skills program, which teaches the stroking and turning skills required for figure skating and hockey programs.

Explore the printing process used by the Folly Cove Designer at Cape Ann Museum!

Learn about the Folly Cove Designers' process, then get to work in the Children's Activity Center. Explore the Folly Cove Designs, create prints using stamps, foam shapes and styrofoam. Also, examine a linoleum block and tools similar to those used by the original Designers. This drop-in program is free for members and Cape Ann residents or with Museum admission. This  Cape Ann Museum family program focuses on the stories of Virginia Lee Burt

Celebrate local author, illustrator and artist Virginia Lee Burton with story time, playing and art making in the Children's Activity Center. Burton authored and illustrated some of the most memorable books ever written for children, and won the 1942 Caldecott Medal for The Little House (Sandpiper Books) .
