Walk across the mudflats to Crowninshield Island, where we will search for tiny fish, hermit crabs, periwinkles, and other sea creatures living in this delicate habitat. Explore the five-acre island and its unusual variety of landforms, from granite rocks and tidal pools to sandy beach, salt marsh, and wooded hilltop.

My Little Lingos Spanish summer program will be held at Marblehead Children's Center the weeks of August 18-22 and August 25-29. The themes Argentina and Cuentos de Hada = Fairy Tales, will immerse the children in the Spanish language, as they explore Spain through stories, dance, food, music and art.
The whole community is invited to Marblehead Recreation Department's Summer Movies at Seaside Park! Bring the entire family and enjoy a night under the stars while watching your favorite movie stars on the big screen. There will also be some really fun treats for the kids, carnival type games, and prizes starting at 6pm! All movies will either by rated G or Rated PG-13.
Life on the rocky shore presents unique challenges and opportunities for marine species. Explore the rocks and tide pools of Chandler Hovey Park and take a closer look at crabs, sea stars, and other seashore creatures that have adapted to survive their continually changing environment.
Now in its 52nd year, the Marblehead Festival of Arts has had a rich history in producing an annual summer arts Festival over the July 4th holiday week. This premier Festival hosts art exhibits in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Photography, Crafts, Plein aire Painting, Senior Art, Student Art and Youth Art. There's also a lot of great events and activities geared toward keeping kids and families engaged and entertained!
Come paint the sky with the gang from Kites Over New England (www.kone.org). They will be building the classic Eddy Kite, a diamond shaped kite with a six foot tail. Members of Kites Over New England will be demonstrating their single line and stunt kites. Beginner stunt kite pilots are encouraged to try their hands at this fun and challenging sport.
Kids in grades k-8 who have an interest in chess are invited to come to the Salem Public Library to play chess with other enthusiasts of the game! Novice players are welcome and there are no instructors present. This two hour session is designed to provide a friendly environment for kids to test their skills against other opponents! Come to the library and play!
Fourth of July in Marblehead is an all-day event on the harbor front that begins at 10am with the Horribles Parade, composed of unusual and sometimes opinioned home-made floats, music, and other parading favorites. For the rest of the day, the waterfront is lively with music, food, and family activities. The day ends with the Harbor Illumination and Fireworks.
