Newburyport Yankee Homecoming welcomes the band Rage 'N' Age to the opening Water Front Concert for Newbuyrport Yankee Homecoming 2017. Rage ‘N’ Age is a New Hampshire and Massachusetts based band that has been together for 18 years. With David on drums, Peter on bass, Bob on guitar, Gary on keyboard, and everyone on vocals, RNA performs songs from the Fifties to today. Vocal harmonies and audience participation are what sets this band apart from many other groups, leaving a lasting impression everywhere they play. Their venues include the Hampton Beach Seashell, Capones, The Fireside, Maddie’s of Saugus as well as too many weddings and private parties to mention. Join the fun of the second Annual Kayak and Paddle Board River Race. Participants will launch at Cashman Park boat ramp off Merrimac Street. The contestants will paddle up River at low tide/slack tide around Ram Island, Carr Island, Deer Island and back to Cashman Park with the out going tide, 4.6 miles.

In every kind of weather, we love to head outdoors to our spectacular local habitats, so join us for one, two, or more of these nature explorations! Each one will focus on the importance of a sense of place as we explore the ecology, sights, and sounds of our natural landscape. Wildlife, local and migrating birds, collecting techniques, and environmental awareness will be presented in a fun, energetic format that adults and children alike will enjoy. This session will be trapping (and releasing) fish and other creatures that live in the marsh.
Join park staff from the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge to learn about the federally – threatened Atlantic coast piping plover nests and how it raises its young on Plum Island’s beaches from April through August. Join a refuge ranger for a chance to glimpse this native species in its wild habitat and to hear the story of how biologists work to conserve the plover under the Endangered Species Act.
Join the park interpreter weekly for a leisurely afternoon stroll to experience the spring flora and fauna at Maudslay. Rain or shine. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. For kids aged 5 and up.

Ahoy mateys! The American Yacht Club sailing school has been running for over 40 years. Our experienced staff are sure to provide a educational fun experience for all involved. We sail the waters of Joppa Flats on Hunter 140's. Our staff instructors, using a fleet of five boats, annually teach 100 plus children the joy of sailing! There is a minimum of 6 children to run a course and a maximum of 15 students per class with 8 classes offered during July and August. Our program starts at the age of 9 years old and runs right through to adults! Course offerings include basic/intermediate instruction and advanced racing instruction for sailors looking to devevelop competitive sailing skill.
