Our friends from Last Hope K9 Rescue will be at the Library with several dogs and puppies in need of forever homes. Come by to meet the dogs (and maybe find your new best friend!).
Applications should be filled out online in advance for anyone hoping to start the adoption process today.
Join educators from Joppa Flats Education Center with your preschooler for an adventure to collect acorns, pine cones, lichen, bark, and moss at Newburyport's Mosely Woods! We'll use our imaginations to create woodland homes and creature friends with the natural materials we find. You'll go home with your fairyland dwellings and a new excitement for finding natural treasues and turning them into creative projects.
This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via email. In these sessions we'll explore migration and the creatures that cover great distances during their trips!
NEW PROGRAM! Come to Joppa Flats after school, and join Lisa Hutchings and her animal husbandry team for a fascinating look at feeding time for the marine life in our 110-gallon touch tank. With the help of Joppa's digital hand-held microscope, you'll see sand dollars channeling food into their mouths and green sea urchins wiggling tube feet and spines. You’ll help us identify, sort, and feed a wide variety of crabs and mollusks. Watch our horseshoe crab devour sea worms and hermit crabs "beg" for supper. As a special treat, we'll show you our newest inhabitants, 8-inch-wide sea stars and a young lobster!
Join park staff from the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge to see and experience the refuge’s salt marsh than from the cockpit of your own kayak! Join a couple of refuge rangers for a 2.5 hour meander through the marsh and learn about some of its fascinating natural and cultural history.
TitO will be hosting a Theater in the Open Festival the weekend of August 12-13. We have four distinct offerings for the community. We begin on Saturday morning at 11AM with [node 8247], an interactive hour of creative exploration and performance. At 2PM we’ll once again be staging our spring production, Snow White: A Through the Looking Glass Panto, then on Sunday afternoon, audiences can see A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 1PM followed by Antigone at 5PM. All performances are free and open to the public.
