Boardgamapalooza for Teens

Teens are invited to unplug and play games the way they were before consoles!

Unplug, kick it old school with some cardboard and plastic, and get your game on in the Program Room! Boardgamapalooza will include such classics as checkers and Sorry! as well as new favorites like Awkward Family Photos. Or, make your own board game with the supplies we will have on hand! Bring your friends, bring your favorite board game, and escape the cold with some heated competition!

Jewlery Workshop Sign-up

Build on your jewelry making skills at Newburyport Public Library!

Whether you're a beginner who'd like to learn to make their own jewelry and complete basic repairs, or simply need to practice your skills, this is the class for you! Join local artisan and re-maker Pam Farren (naturemadescents.com) and learn how to use basic tools, understand and source materials, and complete four different projects over four Sundays in January and February.

Library Babies at NPL

This program is for non-walking babies and their parents/caregivers. Families will learn songs and fingerplays and hear stories to share with babies. This is a drop in program requiring no sign up; however, there will be a limit of 12 babies in the class.

It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

Theater in the Open transforms the Firehouse Center into a 1940s live radio show

Theater in the Open is very excited to bring you a twist on the holiday classic, back by popular demand. It's a Wonderful Life is based on the beloved Frank Capra film but done in the style of "the golden age of radio." Come watch and listen as George Bailey discovers that life really is wonderful and see how Clarence, angel second class, acquires his wings.

Movie: The Whale

The Whale Movie will have multiple showings at Newburyport Screening Room.

The Whale is a documentary about an orca that became separated from its pod and adopted the residents of Nootka Sound in British Columbia as much as they did him. Like humans, Orcas are highly social creatures, and Luna, as he was called, was the life of the party. The nuance of his gestures were wondrous, playful, exuberantly extending the fin of friendship, he even helped timber workers in the area, pushing logs through the water with his nose.

Vacation Week Flyby: Winter Birds and Backyard Treats

Our school vacation programs offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities while we keep minds active and hands busy during break! This Vacation Week Flyby will focus on common backyard North Shore birds that stick around in spite of Winter's cold.

Imagine, Sing, & Learn 12A: Ice is Nice!

Kids can explore the wonders of Ice at this Imagine, Sing & Learn at Joppa Flats

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via email.  In these sessions we'll explore the wonders of ice!
