Felts & Fibers: A Wool Festival at PEM

Peabody Celebrates wool and the things we make from it in a weekend festival!

Peabody Essex Museum celebrates the world of wool and the products that are created from this raw material in a weekend-long festival! There have been many uses for wool throughout history and across cultures dating back as far as 6000 B.C.E. Wool is made from the hair or fleece of certain animals such as sheep, goats, llamas - and even rabbits! Come explore where wool comes from as part of PEM's ongoing Art Materials and Creative Experience program.

Story Trails at PEM: When Books Fly

This Story Trails is about "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore"

Come to Peabody Essex Museum and stop by for an interactive reading of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore , followed by a showing of a short animated film based on the story. Afterwards, kids will learn how to create an animated flip book by making their own to take home!

Salem Film Fest kicks off with 5-Minute High School Documentary Contest awards presentation on Thursday, March 7, 7:00 PM at Cinema Salem. Entering its fifth year, the high school competition is a fun way to celebrate the innovation and skill of aspiring filmmakers currently enrolled in 9th—12th grade at a Massachusetts high school.

Make a marble, see the amazing things you can do with just a yo yo, play a game of giant Jenga, solve abstract magnetized puzzles and and explore the museum to find even more experiences that will keep minds engaged and hands busy during school break!

Salem's 10th Annual Christmas Tree Bonfire

Come to Dead Horse Beach in Salem for the annual Christmas Tree bonfire!
Bring your Christmas tree with you that evening, drop it off at the beach after January 2nd or leave it out for curbside pickup beginning January 2nd.
