Giant Plankton! at Maritime Gloucester

Kids preK-1st grade will learn about plankton at Gloucester Maritime

Maritime Gloucester invites kids in pre-k through first grade to a vacation week session about Plankton - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What is plankton? Many sea creatures begin their lives as tiny, floating beings.  Children will be introduced to the plankton found right in Gloucester Harbor, from miniscule lobsters to high-speed copepods.

Through photographs taken in our digital microscope lab, children will get see what some of our native plankton looks like.  They will hear a plankton-themed story and construct giant-sized foam plankton to take home.

  • For kids in Pre-k through 1st Grade
  • Attendees must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
