Gloucester Stage Holiday Delights 2012

Gloucester Stage Company Youth Acting Workshops proudly presents Holiday Delights! Students participating in the Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Program perform in this wonderful seasonal show about the importance of family and friends. Filled with the spirit of the holidays, this show will be sure to put everyone in the mood to have fun!

Holiday Delights features a cast of young people ranging in age from 6 to 16, all students in Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshops. This family holiday event marks the third time in Gloucester Stage history that a production has featured an entire cast of student actors.

This festive evening of stories, songs and dance tells the story of a young girl’s journey to discover what is really important during the holidays. During her journey she learns about the special traditions of other families and comes to realize the importance of her own family traditions. On Christmas Eve Mrs. Claus takes the young girl to visit the Cratchit Family and Fezziwig Family from Charles Dickens’  A Christmas Carol , the March Sisters from Louisa Mae Alcott’s Little Women (), Della from O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi , a contemporary family celebrating Hannkuah and the animals of the forest in Henry Van Dyke’s The Very Best Kind of Christmas Tree. 

The young actors bring the classic stories to life on stage. The holiday event features classic holiday music including Deck The Halls; Angels We Have Heard On High; O, Christmas Tree and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Jessica Ingaharro reprises her role of Mrs. Claus and  Lily Armstrong returns to the role of the young girl who wants to skip Christmas.  Twelve year old Armstrong first appeared in the holiday show in 2007 as an Elf in Santa's Workshop.

Conceived and directed by Heidi Dallin with music direction by Gloucester Public Schools' Helen Greene, choreography by Windhover’s Carol Burnham, costume design by Lara Jardullo, lighting design by Brendan Marr and magic coaching by Evan Northrup,
