Make your own “Socktopus” at Maritime Gloucester

ALVIN probed by deep sea octopus on NOAA's Expedition to the Deep Slope.

Maritime Gloucester invites kids in pre-k through first grade to a vacation week session about Octopii - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! The octopus is known for changing its shape, color, and texture in order to camouflage itself.

During this fun craft, children will transform an ordinary sock into a toy octopus to take home!  They will learn about the octopus and its amazing relatives: squid, nautilus, and cuttlefish.  We will also view actual octopus and squid specimens and look at the many structures that help these mollusks survive.

  • For kids in Pre-k through 1st Grade
  • Attendees must be accompanied by a parent/gaurdian
