Fossils and Prehistoric Sea Life at Maritime Gloucester

Kids pre-k through grade 5 will love the programs at Maritime Gloucester!

Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week session about Fossils and Prehistoric Sea Life - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What can fossils teach us about prehistoric sea life and ancient oceans?  What is paleontology?  Children will examine three prehistoric eras and discover prehistoric creatures such as spiny trilobites, whale-sized fishes, and ferocious marine reptiles.

We’ll compare modern shells and bones with actual fossils, discover how fossils form, and learn which creatures have remained unchanged for millions of years.  We will also tour our Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary exhibit and learn how oceans change over time.  Children will make their own plaster fossils to take home.

  • For kids in 2nd – 5th Grade
  • Drop-off program
