The Gallery at Gordon College's Barrington Center for the Arts presents its opening exhibit of the 2012-2013 season. Timothy Harney: My Mother's Hands, My Father's Heart: Paintings and Collages, 2000-2012.
Timothy Harney's whimsical and colorful paintings and collages will fascinate children of all ages. The Gallery will exhibit an especially large number of Harney's artworks, spanning more than a decade of this local artist's notable career.
Come to The Gallery on Sat. Sept 1st from 4pm to 6pm for the opening reception and artist lecture.

Timothy Harney's paintings reflect a sense of the passage of time, bringing the viewer into a private world that is mixed with a contemplative calm. Formal compositional decisions married with emotion and imaginative detail give way to greater humanistic conditions. References to art history and his connection to family are prevalent throughout. Harney’s collage work provides an in depth look at the artist’s creative process and exemplify the tradition of miniatures. He earned his BFA and MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Works by Harney have a place in many private and corporate collection and he has participated in shows at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, DeCordova Museum, and Fitchburg Art Museum. In 2001, Timothy Harney was included in the notable Painting in Boston: 1950-2000 exhibition at DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA.
