Independence Day Celebration in Rockport 2022 includes a traditional parade, bandstand concert and massive bonfire.

Celebrate the 4th of July in Rockport, Massachusetts! Rockport’s Independence Day celebration is full of hometown charm and high-energy tradition—and this year promises to be unforgettable! Come experience an evening of patriotic fun featuring a festive parade, live music, and the town’s iconic bonfire on Back Beach.

Event Highlights – Thursday, July 4

  • Firemen’s Parade: Starts at 6:00 PM
  • Legion Band Concert: Begins around 8:00 PM
  • Bonfire Lighting: Ignites at approximately 9:00 PM

Parade Route

The Firemen’s Parade steps off at 6 PM from the school complex on Jerden’s Lane. The route winds down South Street to Dock Square, heads up Main Street, and finishes near Back Beach at the American Legion bandstand.

Back Beach Bonfire Tradition

After the parade, enjoy the classic sounds of the Legion Band as the sun sets. Then, gather at Back Beach for the thrilling finale—a roaring bonfire built from wooden pallets, lighting up the night sky around 9 PM.

Hosted by the Rockport Firemen’s Association, this celebration is a cherished community tradition you won’t want to miss. Bring family, friends, and beach chairs—and make memories by the sea this 4th of July!
