MFA + Highland Street = Free Fun Friday

Museum of Fine Arts Boston - Family Fun in Massachusetts

The Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays program will offer free admission to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), on Friday, August 3, 2012. Visitors can explore the MFA’s exhibitions and galleries, watch short films, tour Museum collections, and participate in family activities.

Some of the activities for the day include:

  • Frog Puppets: 9:30 – 1:30
  • Drawing in the Galleries: 10 – 4
  • Passport to the Americas
  • Art Connections: 10 – 9:45

There will be tours of the galleries throughout the day. Some great featured exhibitions are: Paper Zoo, Visiting Masterpieces: Dancing with Renoir, Alex Katz Prints, and Grandstand to Gallery: Museum of Fine Arts and Fenway Park Photo Project.

This year, a record-breaking 50 venues are participating in Free Fun Fridays, with five cultural institutions open free-of-charge each Friday this summer.  Free Fun Fridays is a 10-week program, which runs from June 29 – August 31.

Since 1989, the Highland Street Foundation has worked to enrich the lives of children and families in Massachusetts by donating more than $135 million to worthy non-profit organizations.
From its support of Free Fun Fridays and the TADpole Ten summer series in Boston Common, to offering financial support and technical assistance to hundreds of nonprofits, to providing tickets to local sporting events to young people, the foundation is dedicated to expanding opportunities for families in Massachusetts and beyond.
