The large, sandy oceanfront beaches here on the North Shore are ideal for long days at the beach. The surf has been typically warm and calm lately, which makes it perfect for swimming.

Crane Beach has miles of large tidal pools that are terrific for younger kids with all the amenities a family with young children needs: parking fairly close to the beach, bathrooms, snack bar and lifeguards. But there are drawbacks - like having to pack in all the stuff you need to keep everybody happy, fed and dry.
