Ages 11-16: Boston-based author/illustrator Jonathan Todd (the upcoming Scholastic graphic novel “Timid") is back, this time for a two-hour workshop on writing and drawing cartoons geared for laughs. We’ll provide you with everything you need (including refreshments for our long journey), and all you need to bring is your sense of adventure!
The Chess Club at the library will be an informal gathering of students interested in playing chess with others. A knowledge of how to play chess is recommended. Students in 3rd – 6th grade are invited to sign up. The chess boards and pieces will be provided. No instruction will be available at this event. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Georgetown Library.
Join Newburyport Youth Services and Seacoast Technology Workshops for an instruction session in SCRATCH, a coding interface for kids developed by MIT. In this fun and action-packed class participants will learn how to program their very own Space Invaders game that can even be played on a mobile device!
Join us for our first game night for teens! We’ll have a variety of board games, snacks, and drinks. This is a drop-in program so no registration is required, but we request that all attendees are at least 12 years of age.
Have you ever wanted to design your own game? Join Green Door Labs founder Kellian Adams and museum staff to plan and create a digital game set inside the museum. You will work in small groups to invent a game designed to help visitors explore the museum. After prototyping the concept on paper, you will build the game on the digital platform and test it with real museum visitors. The best games have the opportunity to be featured in the museum.
