On Thursday, November 2 at 7 p.m. Brookwood School proudly welcomes best-selling author Dr. Lawrence J. Cohen, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist specializing in play therapy and parenting skills and author of The Opposite of Worry: The Playful Parenting Approach to Childhood Anxieties and Fears, to share simple, effective strategies that build connection through fun, play, and empathy. Whether it's the monster in the closet or the fear that arises from new social situations, school, or sports, anxiety can be especially challenging for children.

By working in partnership with our teachers, we hope that parents will explore the many ways in which we can encourage children to take responsibility for their own success in school and in life. Attending parent/teacher education events like the 4 to 14 Speaker Series program on October 9 is another way for us to share a common understanding of the latest child development research.
