Evening with Singer and Songwriters Dave Provost & Friends

Evening with Singer and Songwriters Dave Provost & Friends

Glen Urquhart School will host an evening with Dave Provost and fellow artists, Ted DeMille and Susie West to benefit GAIN@GUS.

The mission of the Glen Urquhart School GAIN@GUS program is to provide free academic and recreational summer enrichment to talented students in the city of Beverly and surrounding areas. GAIN@GUS program extends academic skills in math and language arts, offers outdoor experiences, and provides field trips in the greater Boston area.

The event is the brain-child of Dave Provost, Head of School and accomplished musician, who has been playing professionally across the country since a young age. Provost is the winner of the New England Songwriting Award in 2009.

Four other artists will be collaborating with Provost for the event, including Ted DeMille, who plays rhythm guitar and sings lead for the Maine bluegrass band, Cribstone Bridge. A talented singer-songwriter, DeMille has been a contributing member of some of the best bluegrass bands in Maine including The Oakhurst Boys, North Star, Erica Brown and the Bluegrass Connection, Bits and Pieces, and most recently Cribstone Bridge. National and local bluegrass artists have covered DeMille’s songs and he conducts songwriting workshops for the North Atlantic Arts Alliance.

Susie West  a Santa Monica based singersongwriter will also be performing at the event. She has worked with Herb Pedersen (of the famed Desert Rose band) and members of Lyle Lovett's band. West is currently writing for TV and film as well as performing.

Also joining the line-up is Chris Westerlund, a Nantucket based mandolin player and Dave's former bandmate in the Shingles, and Erik Wendelken, a Nantucket based standup bass player, teacher and widely utilized session player.

The event is open to the public. Donations will be accepted with all proceeds to benefit Gain@GUS, a program that provides free academic and recreational summer enrichment to talented students in the city of Beverly and surrounding areas.
