GUS: Slate.com Editor to Speak in Beverly

John Swansburg, deputy editor of Slate.com, will speak about online journalism and how it has changed the way people receive news on Sunday, December 6 at 2 p.m. at Glen Urquhart School in Beverly. Slate.com is considered one of the preeminent online current affairs and culture magazines and known for its witty take on the news.

Swansburg, a graduate of Yale University, was previously deputy editor of the Boston Globe Ideas section and a senior editor at Legal Affairs magazine. He has also written for the New York Times and other publications.  

His appearance at Glen Urquhart is part of the school’s annual Alumni Speaker Series. Swansburg, who grew up in Beverly,  graduated from GUS in 1992 and then attended Phillips Exeter Academy before Yale.
