Award-Winning Authors: American Library Association's Kids' Book Awards

Caldecott and Newbery Medal Winners 2014. American Library Association's Kids' B

Awarded by the Association for Library Service to Children, these awards have been recognizing an important literary genre since the early 20th century. Awarded since 1922, The Newbery Medal is awarded each year for “the most distinguished American children’s book published the previous year.” The Caldecott Medal followed almost 15 years later as many began to recognize that the artists creating children’s illustrated books were worthy of honor and recognition as well.
