Paddle for Plummer is a fundraiser for the Plummer Home in Salem MA

Paddle for Plummer is a Stand Up Paddle (SUP) event that  includes Elite, Recreational and Youth Paddles. Elites will complete a 6 mile paddle, recreational paddlers will complete a 1.5 mile paddle and a short course will be available for any youth paddlers 13 years of age and under.

There will be food, beverages, music, a dunk tank, raffles, and more.  All proceeds to the Plummer Home.

Join The Trustees of Reservations as they celebrate the July's Buck Moon!  August's full moon was called the Sturgeon Moon by North American fishing tribes, who knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full moon. Colonial Americans dubbed this moon the Dog Days Moon; it is also known as the Green Corn Moon, the Grain Moon, and the Red Moon, for the reddish hue it often takes on in the sultry summer haze.

 

Come to downtown Beverly MA for live entertainment and community fun!

Join Beverly Main Streets on THE BLOCK, their downtown street parties series. One block of Cabot Street will be closed so guests can walk around, meet up with friends, and listen to live music. Food, beer, and wine will be sold by local restaurants set up on the street in the middle of the festival. Three local bands will perform at each block party! Haul the sails and head out on an adventure of a life time!  Maritime Gloucester and the Schooner Ardelle join forces to offer the ever-popular Coastal Explorers summer program! During this week-long program kids will spend mornings on the water and afternoons at our harborfront campus.

 

Kids will build their own underwater robot at Maritime Gloucester duirng a week-

Maritime Gloucester hosts a week-long workshop for kids entering grades 6-9 where they'll make their own underwater robot! During this week long course students will build their own ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) to explore Gloucester Harbor. Through the building process, students will receive a solid introduction to the concepts and skills used in the field of robotics, as well as the design and construction of electrical and propulsion systems. After constructing their ROVs, students will test them and use them in challenges and explorations of Gloucester Harbor. Students will take home their ROVs at the close of the course!

Take a casual bike ride on the trails at Harold Parker State Forest!

Meets at Campground Nature Center - This is a casual paced bike ride through forest trails. Great for families and also those new to trail riding. Helmets are required and you should bring water and insect repellent and sun screen. Appropriate for children over 10 years old.

 

Go canoeing at Harold Parker State Forest with the park interpreter!

Join the park Interpreter for a guided paddle on the pond. Call ahead for pre-registration. Bring insect repellant, water and sunscreen, and a life jacket if you have one. Must have prior paddling experience. Meet at the beach on Frye Pond. Under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Halibut Point State Park hosts a program on Stratigraphy, the branch of geology concerned with the order and relative position of strata and their relationship to the geological time scale. In Stratigraphy at Halibut Point visitors explore some of Halibut’s soil/bedrock contact points and explore the story of time that they tell.
