Kid's Night Out (KNO) is back at the YWCA Greater Newburyport.

We'll cover fire, shelter, and knowledge of nocturnal animals in this dusk survival skills program. Set up a home base, make fire with flint and steel, and learn what animals are behind those eyes glowing in the darkness. Will we be ready as the sun sinks below the horizon?

In every kind of weather, our favorite thing is to head outdoors to our spectacular local habitats! Each nature exploration will focus on the importance of a sense of place as we explore the ecology, sights, and sounds of our natural landscape. Wildlife, local and migrating birds, collecting techniques, and environmental awareness will be presented in a fun, energetic format that adults and children alike will enjoy.  This week we will explore the Salt Marsh to learn about the habitat and the creatures that live and hunt there.


Community Giving Tree's mission is to help low-income families in northeastern M

Time to clean out and drop off your gently-used donations to Essex County children in need. On Saturday, May 9th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Community Giving Tree van is accepting donations at the Winthrop Elementary School, 325 Bay Road, Hamilton.

Community Giving Tree, a non-profit organization serving all of Essex County, collects gently used baby equipment such as car seats, strollers, high chairs and more and gives them to local children in need. Every baby needs a safe crib.

Community Giving Tree's mission is to help low-income families in northeastern Massachusetts raise healthy children by providing recycled clothing, baby equipment and other basic necessities.
