The Rockport Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual Community Egg Hunt

The Rockport Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the annual Community Egg Hunt for the children of the Town at the Rockport Community House !  In years past the Millbrook Meadow was the perfect spot for the hunt, but this winter's snow has made the meadow very muddy.

 

Kids in grades k-12 are invited to play chess at Salem Public Library.

Kids in grades k-8 who have an interest in chess are invited to come to the Salem Public Library to play chess with other enthusiasts of the game! Novice players are welcome and there are no instructors present. This two hour session is designed to provide a friendly environment for kids to test their skills against other opponents! Come to the library and play!

 

Kids will explore Rough Meadows with Joppa Flats Education Center in NBPT

In every kind of weather, our favorite thing is to head outdoors to our spectacular local habitats to see what's new! We love to find things, think about colors, shapes and patterns, and wonder why this place is a special home to wildlife. Each nature exploration will focus on the importance of a sense of place. Local and migrating birds, other wildlife, collecting techniques, and environmental awareness will be presented in a fun, energetic format that adults and children alike will enjoy. Please dress for the weather. 

 

 Proceeds from the Open Door Empty Bowl dinner benefit community programs.

The Open Door will hold its annual Empty Bowl Dinner on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 4-8 pm at Cruiseport Gloucester.  Share in a simple meal of soup, bread and a cookie and take the dinner bowl home as a reminder of someone in need of a meal. Empty Bowl events are held nationally to generate awareness concerning hunger and to raise money for local hunger-relief programs.

The 8th annual pizza taste off raises funds for the American Cancer Society

The Interact Club* at Gloucester High School will be holding our 8th annual pizza taste off at Cruiseport Gloucester this year!  Come try different pizzas from restaurants and other food purveyors around Cape Ann.  Proceeds from this event will got to the American Cancer Society through the Cape Ann Relay for Life! Only 300 tickets will be sold, and are available at the door. Come vote for your favorite and stick around to see who wins the title for best pizza, best crust and best sauce!

 

The annual Gloucester Pride Stride raises money for Cape Ann non-profits!

The Gloucester Pride Stride is an annual fundraiser walk that helps the non-profits organizations around Cape Ann. Walkers collect sponsorships for their favorite organization, then walk the 5 mile route through downtown Gloucester starting and ending at Stage Fort Park. Come join the fun, have a healthy walk and help your community!

The Cape Ann Relay for Life will be held at Burnham's Field in Gloucester Massac

 

The Cape Ann Relay for Life is a community event that raises funds funds for the American Cancer Society and creates an opportunity to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember lost loved ones, and fight back against the disease.  The 2013 Relay will take place at Newell Stadium at the Gloucester High School .

Gerald T. McCarthy Insurance Agency is proud to bring the state-of-the-art Distractology 101 tour to Salem High School! Salem high Students are encouraged to take this program to understand the dangers of driving and the unneccesary dangers of driving while distracted. Distractology 101 is an interactive program developed by the Arbella Insurance Foundation to teach new drivers the dangers of distracted driving. Unfortunately, we live under the assumption that it’s OK to drive around with cell phones stuck to our ears, texts flying and burgers balanced on the wheel. Here’s the cold, harsh truth: it’s not OK.

Abbot Public Library invites families for a night of fun activities! Come to the Meeting Room on Tuesday night, March 31 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm for a night of board games, cards, snacks and hot cocoa! Join a ranger from the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge for a behind the scenes tour of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Tour will be conducted via refuge van, with several brief “drive by” stops along the way. The tour will present an “up close and personal” look at the refuge through the multiple lenses of the cultural history of Plum Island and the Great Marsh, native wildlife and their habitats, and the role of refuge management in the conservation of these precious natural resources. Participants may be driven along areas on the refuge otherwise closed to the public.

Join The Trustees of Reservations as they celebrate the April's Pink Moon! Known as the Pink Moon due to the appearance of pink (or wild) ground phlox, one of the first flowers to appear in Spring, this moon also goes by the aliases of 'Sprouting Grass Moon', 'Egg Moon', and 'Fish Moon'.  Bring your own fun facts and folklore to share around the bonfire at the end of our hike!
