All families are invited to the Children's Museum of New Hampshire on the first Friday night of every month during the school year for Dollar Deal Night! For just $1/person, families are free to explore and experience the museum as a low cost night out together. The Children’s Museum is not normally open at night, so this is also a special treat to visit after-hours and enjoy creative play before bedtime.

Kid's Night Out (KNO) is back at the YWCA Greater Newburyport.  Parents, relax and enjoy a well deserved night out (or in) while our highly qualified YWCA staff watch over your little munchkins (children in grades 1-3).  Their evewning at the YWCA Greater Newburyport starts with pizza, music, and activities.  Then it is on to the pool for an open swim and the evening ends with a short video.


Celebrate Spring's Vernal Migration at Ipswich River Sanctuary Topsfield!

Each year on the first warm rainy night of spring, wood frogs and mole salamanders begin a mass migration to vernal pools where they breed. If you happen to be out on one of these evenings, the experience can be spectacular. Tonight, a part of the sanctuary will be transformed into a Big Night scene. Participants will take a one-hour guided walk along the Vernal Pool Trail, where they will meet some interesting characters who will share some facts and stories about themselves, vernal pools, and this special time of year.

Join us for a special summer program at GUS! Our long-standing tradition of combining educational, hands-on workshops with easygoing summertime fun for children ages 4 to 14 continues. Glen Urquhart School is launching a new energy initiative with the installation of solar panels that will dramatically reduce its overall energy usage.

Glen Urquhart is one of the only schools on the North Shore to install such a large solar venture. The new 55-kilowatt system supplied and installed by Solect Solar will provide 36 percent of the schools overall electricity and avoid 105,000 pounds of Co2 emission, which is equivalent to six homes or greenhouse gas emissions from nine cars, and the amount of carbon sequestered annually from ten acres of pine forest.

D Day stands for Daffodil Day at Sedgweick Garden in Beverly Massachusetts

The Trustees of Reservations invites you to bring the family for a celebration of spring’s arrival at Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens. There's carpets of bulbs in bloom, aself-guided daffodil walk, a craft in the Children’s Garden, and for the third year, guided tours of the mansion, free refreshments and people can Pick-Their-Own daffodil bouquet at the PYO Flower Fields.  This day is sure to brighten everyone’s spring! Travers, Disney’s musical film Mary Poppins revolves around the Banks family and their nanny, who blows into London “on the East Wind” in 1910 and takes the family on a series of adventures while teaching them lessons about life and love along the way. Explore a whimsical 1910 nursery, climb on Admiral Boom’s house-ship, make your own chalk drawings like Mary’s friend Bert does, and see how much fun it can be to do chores and tidy up the nursery if you just add “a spoonful of sugar.”

Celebrate Spring by syeing eggs with your family at the Cape Ann Waldorf School

On Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cape Ann Waldorf School in Beverly MA will host an Easter egg decorating and dyeing event. Kids will create pretty eggs with a variety of coloring ideas and embellishments with all sorts of crafts supplies. Kids can create Easter eggs as fun, interesting, and unique as they are!


Gore Place Sheep Shearing Festival Waltham MA for North Shore Children Families

Back in the day of sophisticated New England, folks wove their own scarves and knitted hats, gloves and sweaters from real wool shorn from bleating sheep by "Renaissance men" like Kevin Ford and Andy Rice. That vanished era of self-reliance will return Saturday, April 26, 2014 to Gore Place for the 27th annual Sheep Shearing Festival when visitors can learn some everyday skills that flourished when the Federal-style mansion was built in 1806.
