Nature journaling is a tool for making discoveries about nature. It involves drawing, but you don't have to be an artist. It involves writing, labeling, and making notes about what you notice and wonder. Above all, it involves taking a closer look. After a brief orientation and introductory exercises, the class will explore the journaling process along the trails of the sanctuary.
Join watercolorist Brenda Sloane in a monthly program that combines nature and art. We will start with a walk on the sanctuary to observe the topic of the month. We will then return to the Nature Center to create a follow-up work of art.

Come to the Emma Andrews Library and Community Center to enjoy a painting demonstration by local artist Anne Recchia. A member of the Newburyport Art Association, Anne has worked for many years in watercolor and has recently started working in oils. Known for painting evocative scenes of the New England coast, her work is in many private and public collections. Join her during Clothing Drive to Benefit Wellspring for a painting demonstration, hopefully outdoors, of the facade of the Emma Andrews Library.
The Ipswich Museum will host a summer art workshop, titled Coastal Culture, as part of its annual “Art in August” series. The Museum’s summer exhibit "I must go down to the seas again..." highlights the work of local artists and examines their relationship with the sea. Come explore the exhibit with a scavenger hunt, then answer the next question: why do YOU go to the shore?
