Join Margot Fox and friends for some family-friendly folk-rock! Come dance, wiggle, and sing to her tunes (old and new) as we shake off the cold and look towards spring! Drummer, Pat Tambor, will jam onstage with Margot who will perform “Planet Clementine,” “Alphabet City,” “Moose Crossing,” as well as “Polly’s Purple Pontiac,” “The Basement,” and other new tunes.
Ezekiel’s Wheels is a dynamic young klezmer ensemble from the Boston area that is getting international recognition for their virtuosity and infectious energy.The quintet’s unique style was forged in the subway stations and farmers’ markets of Boston, where the informal setting and ever-changing audience created an ideal environment for musical experimentation. After playing these informal gigs for some time, Ezekiel’s Wheels entered the 2012 Boston Jewish Music Festival’s “Klezmer Idol” competition, winning first place and a recording session. Seven months later, with a brand new EP under their belt, they won both the jury-awarded City Winery Prize for best klezmer ensemble and the Audience Pick Award at the third biennial International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam. They continue to perform regularly across New England, occasionally around the United States, and every-so-often around the world.
Suzi Shelton is an award-winning NYC singer/songwriter who’s has been making catchy music for more than a decade, performing at the White House and Lincoln Center. Little Miss Ann, a first-generation Filipino-American creates heartfelt songs with unique instrumentation, infectious melodies, and a soulful voice. Each year in February, the Salem State music department holds its annual high school invitational jazz festival, taking place in the music department at Central Campus. Area high school jazz bands are invited to Salem State for a day of workshops and an evening performance in the recital hall. Students will have the opportunity to work with instructors who are proficient in jazz studies and techniques. Past participants have included Salem High School, Ipswich High School, Masconomet High School, Lynn Classical, and others.
