ZooLights will shine brightly beginning on Friday, November 22, 2019, Beloved holiday tradition returns to Stone Zoo.

ZooLights is set to once again dazzle visitors of all ages when it opens for the holiday season on Friday, November 22. This winter wonderland attracts thousands of visitors each year who get into the holiday spirit by strolling along tree-lined paths lit by thousands of twinkling lights. Stroll through the beautifully lit Yukon Creek and see black bears, a bald eagle, Canada lynx, arctic foxes, and even reindeer! Enjoy more festive fun by warming up by the fire pits and toasting marshmallows for s’mores (available for purchase).

Jolly Old St. Nick will be available for photos through December 24.
On December 4, 11, 18 and 24, guests can also meet Mrs. Claus, who will be greeting visitors and spreading holiday cheer throughout the Zoo from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Snow Leopard Day at Stone Zoo

Join us for a day devoted to these elusive big cats, also known as "Ghosts of the Mountains." Visit our education stations throughout the day, and meet with a zookeeper to at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to learn more about snow leopards. We'll also have snow leopard-themed crafts and activities for kids, and the opportunity to sign Pandora and Naphisa’s farewell card.

Boo at the Stone Zoo features Halloween themed crafts and games, along with a haunted maze. Visitors to the Zoo will also have the chance to learn about enrichment as many of the animals receive pumpkins!

Children throughout New England are invited to trick-or-treat among the animals. Thrills, chills and animals lurk around every corner on the Trick-or-Treat Trail! Throughout the day, guests will learn about the importance of enrichment, as they watch as many of the animals receive pumpkins.

Celebrate the arrival of warm weather by attending MassWildlife Spot Pond Family Fishing Festival in Stoneham. There events are for adults, kids, and families who want to learn how to fish in a non-competitive environment.

Bring your fishing equipment, or borrow ours; limited equipment and bait will be provided at Spot Pond in Stoneham (located at the Straw Point area on the north end of Spot Pond off of New South Street) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is in cooperation with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Stoneham Police.

Things to do for families north of Boston

Snow leopards, Mexican gray wolves, North American river otters and black bears are just a few of the incredible animals that call the Zoo home. In celebration of Earth Day, learn about the zoo’s conservation initiatives and meet an animal up close at the Education Station located across from the flamingo exhibit. Don’t miss the zookeeper encounter at the black bear exhibit at 2 p.m.!

 Do you know that snow leopards, black bears, North American river otters, and Mexican gray wolves are just a few of the amazing animals that call Stone Zoo home? During April school vacation week, you’re invited to visit the zoo to learn more about these incredible animals. Throughout the week, there will be special zookeeper encounters at 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. where guests can learn more about some of these zoo residents and ask questions directly to the staff that cares for them!

Things to do for families north of Boston

Easter fun is just a hop, skip and a jump away at Stone Zoo! Guests are invited to celebrate with a visit to the Zoo, where crafts, music, games and other fun surprises await. And of course, no Easter celebration would be complete without a visit from the Easter Bunny, who will be ready to meet-and-greet and pose for photographs.  

Guests may take photos with their own camera for a suggested donation of $5. All proceeds benefit Stone Zoo.
