The Friends of the Newbury Town Library invite you to our annual Harvest Fest. Please join us for a fun day out with your family and support our library on Saturday, October 13 from 10am to 2pm at NTL. Here’s what’s happening this year:
Come help clean the beach at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge! You can help clean up the beach for nesting shorebirds druing this Spring volunteer event. Meet volunteers from the Friends of Parker River NWR at parking lot 1 before going out on the beach to clean up debris. Friends' volunteers and park rangers will be on available to help with heavy items. They will orient you and hand out trash bags. Friends' volunteers and park rangers will be available to help with heavy items. Come for the day or for an hour. All are welcome. Event will be held rain or shine. No preregistration is required; simply show up!
The NTL's own Kati Bourque will present a brief history on Ukrainian Easter Eggs and teach you how to create your own egg. All materials will be provided and you will go home with an egg that you made! This program is geared towards teens and adults, as you will be handling a raw egg, a lit candle, and permanent dyes. Please register online to save your spot - space is limited.
What turtles live here in New Hampshire and what is the difference between land and sea turtles? Meet Raspberry, a 3-Toed Box Turtle, to learn more about body parts that all turtles have in common, what they like to eat, why we think they are so special, and what you can do to help keep them safe.
The Newbury Town Library invites you to this hands-on workshop led by Sarah Seamans, participants will craft their own festive greenery. Take home your centerpiece or give it away as a lovely gift!
Come to NTL after school lets out early and enjoy a free showing of the movie Ferdinand, a classic childrens tale brought to life by the magic of animation. After he's mistaken as a dangerous beast and torn from his home, a peace-loving bull named Ferdinand rallies a misfit team of friends for an epic adventure to return to his family. Note: Due to the weather, the festival of light location has been changed to take place at the Library! The Newbury Town Library invites you to come celebrate music and light on the Upper Green! Karen K & The Jiiterbugs and the Plum Island Pans will play, and we'll end the evening with a lantern parade around the green. Pack a picnic, and grab some friends and family.
Have you ever wished you could touch a whale? From the inside? Internationally renowned Whale Specialist and Educator, Cynde McInnis, introduces us to her 43 foot inflatable Humpback Whale Nile, and teaches us all about the beloved marine mammal. The super talented and uber funny E.S. Redmond will be visiting The Newbury Town Library to read from her newest book, "The Unruly Queen." Ms. Redmond will also lead us in a craft and be available to sign copies of her books, which will be on sale at the library, courtesy of Jabberwocky Books. The event is FREE! Please call to register!
Origami Master Michael LaFosse will offer two free origami workshops to kick-off summer reading for the Newbury Town Library Youth Services Department. June 14th will take place on Plum Island at PITA Hall and June 15th will take place at the Newbury Town Library. Come learn from a master!
