The Topsfield Fair is a perennial favorite for us. We're not the biggest fans of the midway, although it is always worth a walkthrough and a ride or two. We love fruits and vegetables, and are always on the lookout for the winning 'biggest pumpkin'. Another favorite is checking out the pigs and other farm animals, as well as the interesting variety of guinea pigs and rabbits.
Kids aged 10 and up are invited to take part in the the Salem Library's Cupcake Challenge! In partnership with the Imagination Foundation, the Phoenix School will host its annual Cardboard Challenge at Armory Park in Salem. Join in the worldwide celebration of creativity and imagination where everyone is challenged to design and create using cardboard and recycled materials. The Phoenix School Cardboard Challenge is part of a global Day of Play around the world. Yankee Homecoming invites you to the Seventh Annual High School Battle of the Bands. Local High School aged bands will compete to see who rises to the top and wins the opportunity to open for a YHC Waterfront Concert as well as cash and prizes! Watch local student bands battle it out on the stage, and help your favorite band by voting for them!
The Annual Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festivalis a fun family event that inspires the inner artist in all of us! The festival is a greatly anticipated annual summer event in the Greater Boston area with approximately 900,000 attendees. Master sand sculptors from around the world compete in this national contest that attracts international, national and regional media coverage. This year’s festival will run through the fourth weekend in July and has a theme of Science, Technology, and Innovation. The event will highlight Massachusetts as a leader in the development and implementation of new and emerging technologies and discoveries by showcasing the innovation that is happening right here.
Now in its 52nd year, the Marblehead Festival of Arts has had a rich history in producing an annual summer arts Festival over the July 4th holiday week. This premier Festival hosts art exhibits in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Photography, Crafts, Plein aire Painting, Senior Art, Student Art and Youth Art. There's also a lot of great events and activities geared toward keeping kids and families engaged and entertained!
All children are welcome at Big Mike's Bikes first annual Kids' Bicycle Safety Day at O'Maley Innovation School in Gloucester! We will have an obstacle course that teaches hand signals and rules of the road, a free bicycle safety check, and great prizes like new helmets and bike lights! We will be in the parking lot between the ice rink and skate park. Bring the whole family!
The Marblehead Rotary is offering local high school students an opportunity to show off their talents and a chance to win some great scholarship money! Open auditions will happen weekly at Marblehead High School Auditorium on April 4th and 11th, 2017, with with the competition held on Friday, May 12 at the Boston Yacht Club.
