If you're a junior high or high school student interested in nature, this is the program for you! Spend the day birding and paddling the Ipswich River, a great place to observe spring migrants. We will join Drumlin Farm's Becky Gilles and her Peregrine Birders in hopes of getting close looks at herons, hawks, and warblers. Afterschool at Joppa: Spring Series

After School at Joppa Flats allows kids to explore new subjects each week!

Each after school program session at Joppa Flats Education Center begins with self-guided activities, challenges, or puzzles that lead us to our topic for the day. As a group, we'll observe, investigate, and compare wildlife, their adaptations, and the changes that they undergo in autumn. Participants may play the role of entomologist, ornithologist, astronomer, or even glaciologist throughout this series. Each experience will leave your young naturalist eager for the next session. And we always end with a tasty, thematic treat that the participants make!

Geocaching on the North Shore

Geocaching North of Boston

Geocaching is a free, fun, high-tech treasure hunt, where players use a handheld GPS and coordinates to find the cache or treasure. Our cousin introduced us to the game this past spring and it is really fun.  Plus, it is free to start and it is an activity your entire family can enjoy together. The north shore lends itself to many fabulous Geocaching locations with over one million caches stashed all around the world – many here on the north shore. I very much enjoy and recommend it so join in and let the hunt begin!
