Enjoy a Harry Potter themed Holiday celebration at the Sawyer Free Library in Gloucester!

Sawyer Free Library invites kids and families to celebrate the Holidays at a Harry Potter themed party during the Middle Street Walk 2025! Come for a jolly journey around the Wizarding World! It will be a Happy Holiday at Hogsmeade as we sample butterbeer, as well as many more activities such as wand-making, the sorting hat, a photo booth, family trivia, crafts, and more!

Second Saturday - Faces of the Community

Cape Ann residents of all ages are invited to join Museum Educator Kendall Reynolds for a collograph printmaking workshop!

The Museum is free all day for Cape Ann residents on the second Saturday of every month in 2020! The second Saturday of every month is free for families with school-aged children. From 10am to 12pm, families are invited to tour the galleries or take a free workshop in the Activity Center. Each month has a different theme or special guest related to the art, history and culture of Cape Ann. Reservations required for workshops and events.

CAM Pop-up Portrait Workshop

Cape Ann residents of all ages are invited to join Museum Educator Kendall Reynolds for a self portrait workshop. Sit down at a family style table in the Museum’s auditorium with members of the Cape Ann community to draw a portrait of yourself in oil pastel. This portrait workshop is part of a community-wide public art project to be unveiled at the June 2020 opening of the Museum’s expanded campus. Hope to see you there!

Join the Cape Ann Museum’s Teen Art Council at CAM Green to celebrate teen artists from the North Shore. Open to ages 13-19, the Teen Arts Night includes live music, field games, and art activities. This new event series was created by the Teens Arts Council to connect young artists from local communities and engage teens with the Cape Ann Museum.

Historic Stage Fort Park along Gloucester Harbor is the perfect setting for a concert with the Compaq Big Band featuring all of the Cape Ann Jazz Divas - Marina Evans, Renee Dupuis, and Alexandra Grace. Marina, Renee, and Alexandra will all be performing solo jazz and swing charts in front of the band as recorded by Ella Fitzgerald, Diane Schuur, Natalie Cole, Peggy Lee, Queen Latifah, Tierney Sutton and more! PLUS, we’ve got some authentic Andrews Sisters trio arrangements that are sure to bring down the house!

Cape Ann Museum is presenting an opening community celebration for the Cape Ann Museum Green

On Saturday, September 25, 2021, the Cape Ann Museum is presenting an opening community celebration for the Cape Ann Museum Green. Finished in 2020, the CAM Green was used for innovative projects during the COVID Pandemic. The Museum is excited to be able to invite the public to explore this new community and cultural resource. Spend the day picnicking on the Green, learning about the historic houses, viewing art in the Janet + William Ellery James Center, and making art of your own!

Captains Courageous at CAM

Come to CAM Green in Gloucester Massachusetts for a showing of the classic film 'Captains Courageous'

Join us at the Cape Ann Museum Green for a free screening of the classic Gloucester film, Captains Courageous on Saturday, August 28 in partnership with the Cape Ann Community Cinema. Captains Courageous is a legendary 1937 film about a Portuguese fisherman who rescues the son of a railway tycoon after the boy fell overboard from an ocean liner. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s 1897 novel, the movie was filmed primarily in Gloucester. Photographs from the Museum’s Library & Archives document the filming.
