Come to a Critters n' Creatures live animal presentation at Sawyer Free Library. Kids will get a chance to see animals like a snake, an armadillo, a turtle, a ferrret an more! For kids ages 5 and up.
Enjoy a morning at the beach during low tide and discover the living wonders of the rocky shore and sandy coastline. We will look for crabs, starfish, shorebirds, and other seashore animals. Explore the wrack line and sandy beach to compare and sort the natural materials and seaweeds that have washed ashore. We will preserve our memories of the day by creating our own beach collages.
Maritime Gloucester wants kids in grades 6-8 to build their own submersible robot! Project Sea Perch is a course in ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) design and construction for middle school students. During the program students will have the opportunity to construct their own underwater robots, test them, and use them in scientific explorations of Gloucester Harbor. Students will keep their ROV’s at the close of the course.

The Cape Ann Relay for Life is a community event that raises funds funds for the American Cancer Society and creates an opportunity to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember lost loved ones, and fight back against the disease. It has been many years since Cape Ann operated an active Sea Scout group for youth, and Maritime Gloucester is proud to announce that it is starting a new Sea Scout “Ship” effective immediately.The program is a national co-ed outdoor program for young adults ages 14 to 20 that promotes knowledge of our nation’s maritime heritage and provides young people with positive opportunities through hands-on maritime education, training and experiences.

Infant and child CPR is indispensable for parents, babysitters, teachers, program staff, and anyone else who is in frequent contact with infants and small children. This is a non-certified course and is intended for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a completion card or other certification.
United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester will hold its annual Safe Boating Day Event on Saturday May 18th, to kick off National Safe Boating Week, which is May 18-25. The event is to promote boating safety and awareness.
