Schooner Lannon is offering a free sail - first come first served - during Trails and Sails 2019

Picture yourself relaxing on the deck of this beautiful 65- foot schooner as she sails out of Gloucester harbor on a light southwesterly breeze. Join us for a sail and get a taste for what it was like to sail on a fishing schooner a hundred years ago. Help the crew raise the sails, or just sit back and take in the sights and sounds of Gloucester’s coastline.

USCG Tall Ship Eagle Comes to Salem!

USCG United States Coast Gaurd Cutter Barque Eagle comes to Salem Massachusetts!

The Coast Guard Barque EAGLE is making a port call in Salem, MA this August - arriving August 9 and staying through August 11!  The ship was built in 1936 in Germany, and commissioned as Horst Wessel, one of three sail training ships operated by the pre-World War II German navy. At the close of World War II, Horst Wessel was taken as a war reparation by the United States, recommissioned as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle and sailed to New London, Connecticut. Eagle provides an unparalleled at-sea leadership and professional development experience for future officers of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Sailbot 2013

Robots come in all shapes and sizes, but in Gloucester this June you'll be able to see demonstrations of one-of-a-kind sail boat robots! SailBot 2013 is an international robotic sailing regatta open to student teams wishing to design, build and compete robotic sailboats. SailBot 2013, the North American competition for robotic sailboats will be held in Gloucester Harbor, Massachusetts. This year's event is hosted by Olin College and the City of Gloucester and includes 19 teams, including Gloucester High School, seven other high school teams and teams from several universities.

Mayor's Cup Schooner Race

The Mayor's Cup Race at the Gloucester Schooner Festival is just part of the fun

Note: Due to the weather, these events have been postponed to Labor Day Monday. The Mayor's Race is a major part of the Gloucester Schooner Festival 2025, where participating schooners in the weekend activities compete for for the Esperanto Cup, Ned Cameron Trophy and Betty Ramsey Trophy off Eastern Point and East Gloucester.

Sail Boston transit Boston to Gloucester

Sail with the tall ships from Boston to Gloucester aboard the Schooner Ardelle!

Schooner Ardelle invites you on a unique adventure on the coast of the North Shore!  Board the Ardelle as we depart the Sail Boston festival and sail back to Gloucester in company of the fleet of Tall Ships participating in the Tall Ships Challenge/Redez-vous Tall Ships Regatta race from Massachusetts to Canada. We will return to Gloucester in the afternoon, prior to the race start. Tickets are also available to join the Ardelle to watch the start of the tall ships regatta that afternoon! Passengers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to Boston and out of Gloucester. Trunnel tickets and Vouchers are not valid for this unique sailing experience.

Lowell’s Boat Shop is pleased to partner with the Lynx Educational Foundation operators of the Tall Ship Lynx for her first time ever visit to the city of Newburyport, MA from June 2-6.  It is our high honor to bring this national treasure Lynx to the birth place of the United States Coast Guard, Newburyport.

Sea Scouts are back on the North Shore!

It has been many years since Cape Ann operated an active Sea Scout group for youth, and Maritime Gloucester is proud to announce that it is starting a new Sea Scout “Ship” effective immediately.The program is a national co-ed outdoor program for young adults ages 14 to 20 that promotes knowledge of our nation’s maritime heritage and provides young people with positive opportunities through hands-on maritime education, training and experiences.

The HMS Bounty will come to Newburyport on Friday July 13 and stay through the weekend offering public tours! Tours will run Friday 10am-3pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm. In addition to tours of the Bounty there will be entertainment at waterfront park for everyone visiting the Bounty and Newburyport.
