Message from the Head of School

Message from the Head of School Larry Griffin, Shore Country Day School, Indepen

The welcome for you at Shore starts even before you arrive for your first day. You will get a call from a host family inviting you to join them socially to meet and learn how your host family will be there to share information throughout your entire first year in the community. You will get calls from teachers introducing themselves to you and your child and beginning to form the partnership bond that defines Shore.

As Head of School, the best part of my day is my “walkabout,” the free time where I am able to visit classes, stop to chat with a child about an exciting discovery or to hand deliver my birthday card to the child. My days are filled with smiles and laughter, and I am aware that they know I am coming when they hear me laughing down the hall. Shore is a great place to grow and learn because we are first a community of caring people with a single mission, doing what is best for each and every child. I love what I do and I love the people I get to work with in my profession. There is simply nowhere better on earth!
