Imagine, Sing, & Learn 3A: Seals on the River

Seals live all over the coast of the North Shore. Kids will learn more at Joppa!

An active, fun, program where you and your child will learn about the seals that live at the mouth of the Merrimack River. We will learn about what they eat, how they capture their prey, how they care for their young, and how they survive cold waters of the North Atlantic. We will play some games, sing a song or two, make a fun take-home craft, and enjoy a tasty snack!

Draw Me a Story: Children's Book Illustrators Reception

Children can come dressed as their favorite children's book characters, they'll create a block print with children's illustrator Leslie Evans, make collage art with museum educators and meet children's authors Giles LaRoche, Pat Lowery Collins and Leslie Evans at book signings. Enjoy special tours of the museum’s 17th-century house based on Giles Laroche’s book If You Lived Here: Houses of the World .

Family Flyby: Animal Folklore

Brer rabbit and the tar baby is a classic american folktale

Free-flow learning at Joppa Flats is fun for the whole family. There's simple science fun with coloring pages, crafts, and toys for ages 2 to 6; science experiments and group challenges for ages 7 and up; and outdoor exploration, seasonal live animals, and scheduled family presentations for everyone. Fly by for an hour or stay all day for family time that suits your schedule. There's something different to see and do with every visit!

Jewelrey Making at Art Haven

With a wide range of materials provided, kids will learn how to make jewlery

Kids will learn how to create their own jewelry from a variety of materials at Art Haven! This is an Elementary School program and is open to children in grades K-6.

February Vacation Week at Joppa Flats: Caribbean Carnival is a drop-in program

Joppa Flats Education Center vacation programs offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities while we keep minds active and hands busy during school break. Each session offers a different theme, with art activities, experiments, group games, and scheduled family presentations for everyone. It's free-flow learning for the whole family. Come once or make it a multiple-day adventure; drop in for an hour or stay all day for a vacation activity that suits your family schedule.

Kids will learn about eagles, their migrations and varied habitat at Joppa Flats

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list in an electronic goody bag! This week we'll be focusing on eagles and their annual migration to the Merrimack River estuary!
