Little Herons Enrichment Program at Brookwood School

Brookwood School things to do for preschool children.

Join us at Brookwood School on Friday mornings in January for an adventure complete with music, crafts and exploration. Musical Story Time, is held Fridays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on January 12, 19 and 26.  Music Teacher Alex Edwards and Librarian Sheila Geraty will engage children in a variety of books, stories, songs and interactive musical activities.

Little Herons classes for 3- to 5-year-olds are free and family-friendly. Parents and children are welcome to attend one or multiple sessions. Class size is limited.

Celebrating its fifth year anniversary, Brookwood’s 4 to 14 Speaker Series: Parenting Elementary School Kids is pleased to welcome writers of note who will once again speak to parents on issues of parenting, raising healthy children, and navigating the ups and downs of family life. Mark your calendars for our second speaker of the 4 to 14 anniversary season, on February 10, 2016, for an evening with Dr. Jennifer Bryan who will discuss the topics of gender, sexual identity, and helping our kids navigate gender stereotypes. Tickets are $10 and are now on sale.

Manchester Festival by the Sea celebrates art on Cape Ann and the local bounty of Artistry.

Festival by the Sea has been rain-dated!  See the new date/time below. An annual event hosted by the Manchester Division of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, this all-day extravaganza taps into the long-line of local talent with musical and artistic performers alike. Visitors can take in the sights of Masconomo Park while surveying the art and handcrafted items from some of the finest talent assembled. Celebrating locally grown art, music and food in downtown Manchester-by-the-Sea, this all day event will highlight not only the idyllic beauty of Cape Ann but also the incredible talent for which the area has become synonymous.

The Annual Red, White & Blue Pancake Breakfast at Tuck's Point will feature live music, pony rides, a great breakfast and more at the beautiful seaside setting of Tuck's Point! The Manchester-Essex Rotary Club invites families to enjoy pancakes topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, coffee, milk, and juice! Live Dixieland music and free pony rides will excite and entertain the kids! Proceeds support the Club's scholarship program and community service projects in Manchester and Essex.

An Evening with the Herons

The largest heronry in Massachusetts is just off of Coolidge Point in Manchester

The evening flight of herons, egrets, and ibises as they return to their night roost is an amazing spectacle to watch, especially when they are returning into the largest heronry in Massachusetts, just off the coast of Coolidge Point. Bring your dinner and enjoy the aerial drama of the life-and-death struggle in the colony.
