MFA Open House | Juneteenth

The Museum of fine Arts Boston hosts an open house with free admission for Juneteenth!

In partnership with Citizens, admission to the MFA—including access to “Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence”—is free for all Massachusetts residents on June 19 in honor of Juneteenth, the oldest nationally observed commemoration of the ending of slavery in the US. Join us for performances, participate in art-making activities, catch a talk, and see “Hear Me Now: The Black Potters of Old Edgefield, South Carolina,” a new exhibition honoring the work and legacy of the enslaved men, women, and children who crafted stoneware storage vessels in Old Edgefield for roughly 50 years before emancipation.

Gates open at 6:30, and you can buy food on site or bring a picnic dinner before the show. The movie for June is Avatar: The Way of Water! Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the extrasolar moon Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na'vi race to protect their home.

Ipswich Independence Day Parade

Ipswich Massachusetts celebrates the 4th of July with a parade through downtown!

Ipswich's Independence Day Parade begins Winthrop School, up Manning Street, along High Street to East Street, then turns to follow Water Street along the River to the Ipswich Town Hall.   Kids and other participants are invited to show up at 9am to decorate bikes, trikes and wagons, with the parade starting at 10am.  At the end of parade, there will be foot races, a bouncy house and other activities at Town Hall.
