Fall Family Monarch Conservation Program & Butterfly Tagging!

Come to Parker River Wildlife Sanctuary to learn about Monarch Butterflies!

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge invites families to join Katie Hone, The Monarch Gardener, for this fun and interesting one hour program about the monarch butterfly.  The program will include a presentation about monarchs with interactive role playing and live animals AND making milkweed “seed bombs” (to take home).  Meet, tag and release live monarch butterflies to the wild! This program is geared to younger children and their parents.  This program will take place in the refuge visitor center classroom.  NO preregistration for this program.

Come to Endicott Wildlife Sanctuary to learn about Monarch Butterflies!

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary invites families to join them at Endicott Wildlife Sanctuary to discover the amazing journey of the monarch butterfly to Mexico. Learn about the monarch life cycle and the challenges facing its habitat. Find out more about butterfly gardening and create a paper butterfly that will spend the winter with children who live near the monarch sanctuaries in the mountains of Michoacan, Mexico. We will then work together as citizen scientists to tag and release several monarchs to start their journey south.

The Newburyport Harvest Festival is a tradition filled with family fun!

Come to downtown Newburyport on Sunday & Monday of Columbus Day weekend for our annual Fall Harvest Festival! Enjoy great food, live music, and family fun while celebrating autumn's arrival. Explore downtown shops as well as craft vendor booths from artisans all over New England! Bring the kids in the morning for children's entertainment in Market Square the annual Scarecrow Contest.

Tattersall Farm Animal Rescue Day

NEER North is thrilled to be a part of the Animal Rescue day at the beautiful Tattersall Farm Grounds in Haverhill, MA

Trustees of Tattersall Farm are hosting a free guinea pig petting zoo and Animal Adoption Day at the Farm, 542 North Broadway, on Sunday, June 13, from noon to 3 p.m. Sheep, bunny, minihorse, and dog rescue leagues will be included. This event will help area rescue leagues to find loving homes for their various animals. Stop by and see these adorable animals!

The Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club Spooktacular - a fun family outing at Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury

The Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club Halloween Spooktacular is fun for the whole family! Come dressed in your favorite costume for the most "spooktacular" GNFC Halloween Party yet!  Kids of all ages will enjoy live music by Travis Ford and dancing, tractor rides, pumpkin "picking," fall games, Halloween tattoo station and trick-or-treating - all in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. A costume contest will be held at 3:00 pm so come dressed to impress!

This Mother’s Day, Celebrate Spring in Boston's most beautiful parks at the Duckling Day celebration and parade on Sunday, May 10th. A beloved tradition for over 30 years, the event celebrates the children’s classic book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey. Every year, hundreds of children parade through Boston’s most picturesque parks, dressed like characters from the story. Led by the Harvard University Marching Band, the parade will begin in the Boston Common at the Parkman Bandstand and end in the Public Garden near the famous Make Way for Ducklings sculptures.

Stop by at Joppa Flats Education Center to learn how we can all take responsibility for sustaining the natural beauty and resources of our oceans and coastline.

A fun-filled day for the whole family about everything from our ocean giants (whales, sharks, sea turtles) to deep sea creatures (octopuses, jellies)! For age 2-6, there are take-home crafts, an under the sea play zone, stuffies, coloring books and simple table-top science. For ages 7 and older, there are displays and interactives about overfishing, microplastics, sea level rise and climate change. Indoors and out. Rain or shine.
