The TOHP Burnham Public Library in Essex hosts a knitting club for anybody aged 6 and up! Children ages 6 years and older with an adult-Learn the basics of knitting AND sewing with Ms. Christine. No experience necessary! Build hand strength and dexterity which will support fine motor skills. Participants will receive knitting needles and yarn to keep. Bald Eagles are our goal as we search the skies and trees near the mouth of the Merrimack River on Eagle Festival Saturday. Choose among eight opportunities to join us to observe the surprises among all our winter-visiting birds, including many species of raptors, ducks, and more. Families with children ages 8 and above are welcome. Bring your family to Downtown Beverly for a safe, fun, family-oriented New Year Celebration. There's all kind of activities and events planned in and around the Beverly's Downtown area that are designed to entertain and keep families engaged throughout the afternoon.
Miss Lisa invites you to join her for some family-friendly seasonal nature walks in the area. Together we will explore the salt marsh, the woods, and more. We will look for birds, mammals, and of course, mushrooms! We'll use our "science eyes" and "nature ears" and learn, play, and discover together. What changes will you find as we walk through the woods and into a salt marsh? We'll be looking for snails in the salt meadow hay, birds and mammals as they prepare for winter, fish in the marsh waters, and fungi and lichen on trees and logs.
Join us for our annual visit from Santa, tree lighting, and holiday carols with Jambalaya Horns. Inside the library, there will be crafts and snacks until Santa's arrival.
Once we have sung along with Jambalaya Horns and lit our tree kids can come inside and give Santa their letter.
Daisy Nell and Captain Stan visit the library to introduce Daisy’s new book [amazon 978-0615455075 inline] and lead a sing-along. Daisy Nell, native of Essex, MA, brings alive New England’s maritime history through traditional songs of the sea. A familiar voice on the North Shore music scene, she is known for her broad repertoire of traditional folk, chanteys, and contemporary songs. Her husband, Capt. Stan, adds his guitar and dobro to Daisy's banjo and guitar.
Daisy Nell, children's book author of Rocky at the Dockside and Stowaway Mouse, will read her stories and lead a sing-along with her husband and musical partner Captain Stan Collinson. This program is a free family event made possible by the Goldhirsh Foundation.
