The fourth annual Grow Spring! Expo, a celebration of local agriculture, horticulture, and environmental preservation, returns to Topsfield on March 18, 10 AM - 3 PM. Held at the Emerson Center, the Gould Barn, and The Commons, this year’s event is sponsored by the Topsfield Garden Club, the Topsfield Historical Society, The Commons, The Congregational Church of Topsfield and the Essex Agricultural Society.
The bald eagles are back along the Merrimack River, and we know where to find them! Join us at Joppa Flats, where we'll kick things off with some bagels and cream cheese while we learn about eagles and other birds of prey before we hit the road. We'll use recent sightings from our bird observation log, pass out binoculars and radios, and caravan out to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Deer Island, and Salisbury Beach State Reservation to seek out these majestic birds.
Join us & the Gloucester Clean City Commission to learn how to turn a t-shirt into a tote bag! Bring a shirt you would like to turn into a bag or use one provided. All supplies will be provided at this free event and all kids will take home their finished product! Registration required. Kids 8-12. Call or register for a spot online.
The North Andover Festival Committee is inviting you to the 47th annual Sheep Shearing Festival being held on the North Andover Common. The event is held from 10am to 4pm, and includes Sheep shearing and herding demonstrations, crafters, food vendors, pony rides, and much more! Preschoolers join Joppa Flats Naturalists in an active, fun, program where they will learn what makes a salt marsh special, what lives in a salt marsh, how these animals find their food, and a chance to touch and hold live animals from the salt marsh! Using group games, songs, and fun interactive props, we’ll turn your preschooler into estuary enthusiasts! We’ll also make a take home craft and enjoy a tasty salt marsh looking snack!
Join the artists on Artists’ Row for Salem Mayor's Night Out and a free fun activity: Tap into your creative spirit one of several Halloween inspired works of art such as, miniature witch brooms, pumpkins, ghosts, goblins, vampires or Frankensteins from the materials provided! Keep what you make and be creative using paints, scrap wood, branches and more!
Join educators from Joppa Flats Education Center with your preschooler for an adventure to collect acorns, pine cones, lichen, bark, and moss at Newburyport's Mosely Woods! We'll use our imaginations to create woodland homes and creature friends with the natural materials we find. You'll go home with your fairyland dwellings and a new excitement for finding natural treasues and turning them into creative projects.
Celebrate Halloween with us! Carve a pumpkin to take home for halloween, have your face painted and take a Halloween Photos too. Kids are invited to the Ipswich Halloween Parade! Gather if you dare on the Ipswich Riverwalk, parade over the infested waters of the Ipswich River to nightmare on Elm Street, down haunted County Road, and ending at Town Hall Graveyard for cider and donuts! Presented by the Ipswich Police Community Resource Unit.
Join Artist and Art Teacher Mary Ann McCurdle for one or more of these new family art classes this fall. Each class will begin with a short story, followed by a nature walk, and finish up with a related art project as we celebrate the beauty of the season.
