His Dream Our Mission: In commemoration of MLK, Jr.’s birthday, YWCA Greater Newburyport presents a screening of “King in the Wilderness.” This film tells the story of Martin Luther King Jr.’s final years through the personal stories of those who surround him.
The Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation’s MLK Day event will feature Renée Graham, Boston Globe Associate editor and Columnist as the keynote speaker on Monday, January 15th. In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all national wildlife refuges and other U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service lands that normally charge an entrance fee offer free admission January 15, 2024. The Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport Massachusetts is participtating, so come to the refuge and apend some time outside!
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge invites teens to join refuge staff and members of West Newbury Wild & Native for a workshop on the importance of collecting and sowing native seeds. Learn about local native plants and seed collecting, then rotate through stations to create 3-4 pots of different seed mixes to take home!
The Trustees of Reservations invites you to get your little ones out of the house and build your family's outdoor confidence on a guided family hike! Meet up with your group of fellow explorers to learn a new nature tidbit and then hit the trails! We'll go at a comfortable pace for little legs and leave plenty of space for asking questions and stopping to observe something cool.
Join the Newburyport YWCA for screening of Dawnland, as part of their Martin Luther King Day observances. At our annual Martin Luther King, Jr. event we will be screening the film Dawnland, “a documentary about cultural survival and stolen children: the first truth and reconciliation commission for Native Americans.” Following the screening there will be a question and answer period with Mishy Lesser, Learning Director for the Upstanding Project. A light dinner and dessert will be served.
