As part of COASTSWEEP 2021, volunteers are encouraged to come to Phillips Beach to help in the statewide effort to keep our coastline clean along the shore in Swampscott, Massachusetts. Trash collected will be measured and analyzed, and the data will be sent to Washington DC to aid the government in creating legislation to minimize trash in our oceans! This specific cleanup is coordinated by Ted Maney and the Boston Sea Rovers.

As part of COASTSWEEP 2021, Joppa Flats Education Center and Parker River National Wildlife Refuge encourage volunteers to come to Plum Island and help in the statewide effort to keep our coastline clean. COASTSWEEP is the annual statewide cleanup of Massachusetts coastal and riverine environments. Over more than 20 years, COASTSWEEP has engaged thousands of volunteers in cleaning hundreds of miles of shoreline and riverbanks.
Ever wanted to try your hand at surfcasting from the Plum Island beach? Come join two local experts as they discuss the basics you’ll need to get started (or improve!). Topics will include what gear you will need, what to use for bait and lures, how to find a spot that may hold fish, and the best tides and times to go.
Come to Cape Ann Art Haven for some buoy painting fun! Join us to paint buoys for the 2019 Bluefin Blowout, benefiting the Alzheimer's Association. This is a free event, and all ages are welcome! Buoys have generously been provided by Three Lantern Marine & Fishing.
Come share your pride in Ryal Side and help remove the trash that has been left and collected in our parks and on our streets over the winter. Ryal Side is the best neighborhood in this city, let’s do our part to make it the most beautiful! Please bring your work gloves, rakes, brooms, shovels, etc.
Come to Dane Street Beach to help with a post-winter cleanup. Salem Sound Coastwatch is looking for volunteers to help clean up debris washed up by the winter storms! We will provide buckets, trash bags and gloves.
Carry on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Craft a care package for families in need, or plant a seed and support The New Garden Society's work providing horticulture training for incarcerated students in the Greater Boston area. Excerpts of Dr. King's speeches will play every hour in the Courtyard.
